LAL/NYK - Towns for Lebron

Knicks trade:
Karl Anthony-Towns

Lakers trade:
Lebron James

Why for Knicks? They go all in with Bron, while making a second trade or finding a FA to play center. At the least, Towns contract is moved.

Why for Lakers? They trade a dude who'll be close to 41 when the season starts into Doncic/Towns combo.

Why for Lebron? Winning a title for the Knicks would be a great storybook ending and he could want to play with Brunson.

I think DFS opting out helps the legality.

Why are the Knicks doing this? This is far too much for 40 year old Lebron James and he wouldn't even agree to this trade anyway.

NYK needs more. How about Towns, Hart for LeBron, Reaves, Knecht?

Why would the Knicks be interested in Austin Reaves or Dalton knecht. Neither would get heavy minutes on the Knicks. There's really nothing that can to fix this trade. The only way Lebron is coming to New York is if the Lakers buy out his contract.

On the surface, yes… but this opens up the opportunity to flip Bridges for a big or more depth pieces. Dalton can also be flipped.

This completely ignore the feud between Klutch and CAA…. But you know what sometimes a good hypothetical trade doesn’t need to be realistic.

Why isnt this fair?

Lebron is still a better player than KAT

You could argue KAT is on a pretty bad deal too, but yes Lebron is older and your window is now 2 years

His defense with Brunson isn't great

Brunson, Bridges, OG, Lebron, Robinson
Deuce, Hart, C with the mle

Maybe NY can ask for Knecht and NY sends back a swap/2nds?

I dont see it happening though as NY probably rolls out the same team+adds some depth with mle and runs it back with more time to gel and having Robinson back was big in the playoffs

And the East is incredibly weak next year

Don't read too much into facto's post. It's his usual schtick. Reaves isn't a rotational player, Knecht couldn't even play in the WNBA, etc.

I agree. I think the Knicks run it back with a new coach. Do think the Knicks are favourites to win in the eastern Conference? Who knows. I don't trust the Cavaliers come the playoffs, the Pistons are still young and lack a 2nd star. The Bucks have almost have nothing outside of Giannis. Hawks are looking like a good, but not great team. The Pacers and Celtics are non factors for next season. The Magic may be good enough to contend for Championship.Everyone is irrelevant. Overall there's a argument to be made that the Knicks should stay pat, however there's huge fit concerns on defenese with KAT/Brunson.

What's the non Towns package? Bridges, Hart and Precious or something and run with Brunson, Lebron, OG and Towns big 4 in a depleted east? I think I'd rather do it the Towns way and keep those multiple long wings.

Giving up Bridges/Hart for Lebron is somehow even worse than giving up KAT for Lebron from a value standpoint. There's nothing the Knicks can do salary matching wise to get Lebron without significantly overpaying. It's ether Lebron is getting brought out of his contract to join the Knicks if he really wants to go there or he simply isn't going there.

WOuld be interesting to see two of the most whiniest guys in the league (Luka/KAT) together in unison

Don't generalize fanbases over 1 or 2 posts please.

Luka and KAT would be a terrible fit basketball wise IMO.

I think this LeBron trade stuff is all smoke for the Lakers to make moves to get better (spend draft picks and money). He doesn’t really want to leave.

I would love to trade him for someone younger and a better fit with Luka though.

Obviously not all lakers fans, but it’s not just the LeBron for towns or Spida threads in which their best justification was basically “worked for Luka”

This may get me banned on this board, but 40-year-old Lebron James was not better than KAT last season--they were a wash on offense, and while Lebron could still be better on defense, he took most of the season off defensively. More to the point, 41-year-old Lebron James likely will be worse than KAT this coming season. No thanks on my end.

And I'd rather keep the core as is. While we need additional play-making--and Lebron would provide this--we also need KAT's better rebounding and three-point shooting, as well as Hart and Bridges' ability to suit up and contribute each game (both are iron men). Moreover, keeping Lebron healthy (he's soon to be 41) and happy would also be a pain. E.g., would we have to trade for Bronny as well? No thanks....

Doesn't this kind of chaos/posturing happen pretty much every year with Lebron? That said, his leverage this year seems less because of Luka, imo.
