Dallas gets: Grayson Allen, Simone F
Phx gets: Naji Marshall, Bobi Klintman
Det gets: Klay Thompson

Dallas gets a guard that covers a lot of their current gaps. Phoenix balances their roster while saving a good chunk of money. Detroit gets a vet with championship experience who will spread the floor with Cade/Ivey/Ausar

As a Piston fan, I don't mind giving up Klintman and Simone F for Klay Thompson especially now that Beasley is on hold. My understanding is that the trade will give the Pistons more cap space since Thompson will make about $16 mil this season minus the salaries of the two players they traded, perhaps allowing them to go after a UFA or RFA like Aldama. They may also have the cap space to do this by signing Schroder and Tim Hardaway Jr.

I love it for Dallas and Phoenix. Dallas has too many forwards and Phoenix has too many shooting guards so they are a natural match for trades since both teams are thin at what the other has lots of. With that said I don’t see the Pistons doing this trade, i don’t see them
wanting a washed Klay

Why don't DET just trade directly with PHX for Allen instead? Allen is younger than Klay, and also very good 3 point shooter.

Yea that part didnt escape me and thought about putting that note in the OP. My thought was though that Klay would spread the floor better for Det and bring some winning experience to a very young time, and also Naji > Simone imo

I have allen as the better shooter

If that's the case, then as Mich said Dallas would be cut out, which sucks for this Mavs fan, because I want my almost peer Klay gone

The hope would be Phoenix likes the idea of Naji better than Simone. Which does make sense to me.

I like the OP for Dallas but could see Phoenix wanting to involve a different third team with more of a four than Naji..

And if Det wants Grayson and Phoenix wants Naji.. Dallas should still be open to trading Naji for Simone and the right amount of seconds.. Can always trade Simone and/or Klay with those seconds later..

Simone is currently our backup plan for backup PF. He disappointed last season after looking good the previous one.

Until we have a solution lined up for regular season backup PF, we need Fontecchio. Adding salary (Klay) and removing Simone causes issues, including a loss of cap space we’ll need to get a replacement PF.

Also, Klintman is a longshot, but another PF that might get an opportunity this year. And we drafted a shooter in Lanier, so…

In other words, doubt this is interesting to Detroit.

We bailed them out on Hardaway - now Klay?

I'd much rather see Sasser get the minutes. My fear is we bring Hardaway back.
