I think this makes the Mavs worse.

Not the best fit with Kyrie, but probably the best replacement at this price point. I like it.

A lot of people hate him, but hard not to see this as good signing in my book. Help keep the offense afloat until Kyrie is back and only 2 years so very little risk.

I thought Nico likes Defense?

Great for the TPMLE, but team is hardcapped again and no space below the Apron, and Indom't trust this guard rotation.

With Kyrie out, probably they best option they could draw in free agency.

if they aren't willing to trade Lively,Gafford, or Washington this is about as good as it got with no expiring contracts to trade.
He's better than Hardy/Williams and can shoot. So its positive signing in that regard.

I don't know that he is better than Williams at PG. Hopefully I am wrong.

For sure. Dlo isn't great but it's not like Dallas had a ton of great options here. He'll be good enough.

Well even if not they still need to fill the PG minutes Williams can't play.... And Brandon Williams has very limited meaningful minutes. He put up some numbers on a team with no offensive options to speak of. I don't think that tells us anything about how effective he could be playing starter's minutes in games you want to win.

Yeah, Russell is a big upgrade over Williams by any reasonable expectation.

Tyus Jones/Delon Wright/Malcolm Brogdon/Tre Mann, I feel like there were plenty of options who are either better players OR are not significantly worse and could probably be had on a minimum contract. Or just play some guys out of position and run with no point guard. Get someone like Clarkson who can get the ball up the court, wait for a Cole Anthony buyout, etc.

Those guys aren't better. Jones doesn't turn the ball over, but offers little punch. Brogdon maybe a slightly better version, but never healthy. Wright is a terrible offensive player and Mann is unproven.
I get you don't like Russell. I'm not excited either. But he does things Dallas needs. And is a better option than your alternatives imo.

Really dont like this at all, such a negative in every aspect as a player and locker room. No reason to sign a guy like this just to please Nico's golden boy AD

I believe those options are all within the same range. Ok with any so long as it’s not an overpay and Russell deal isn’t an overpay .

Maybe I'm being naive, but I like the Nembhard brother than both DLo and Williams. I hope he sows out summer league and preseason to warrant rotation minutes
