Naji Marshall for Aaron Wiggins

Post#1 » by daoneandonly » Tue Jul 1, 2025 10:47 am

Simple, straight up swap between Dallas and OKC. Is it fair? Both are bargain contracts for quality role players in my opinion. The Thunder get a bigger guy to play forward who can do it all, Dallas gets Wiggins who really has a case to start at SG as he can fill some of their gaping holes.

Wiggins is the better shooter and is the better contract. Naji cant really play 4/5 so dont see okc being interested

Agree OKC would have no interest. But Marshall could definitely play 4 in OKC. Williams was effectively their 4 for long stretches. They are more than happy to play one center and 4 guards essentially.

Aaron Wiggins also spends time at the 4. Hell, Alex Caruso was our 4 at times. The requirement to be a 4 in our rotation is a pulse and the ability to hit an occasional 3.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

The OKC board thinks our roster is ready for opening night . Joe/Dieng being our movable salary for any trade deadline needs.

Wiggins contract is too good for us moving forward. Gonna need a crazy overpay for us to trade him.

Unless he takes a few steps of improvement , his contract will be worth more to us than any trade value he might get . And that’s assuming slight overpay .

You are ready for opening night. Other than signing a certain duo to long-term extensions of course. But the time for roster moves will be next summer when those extensions kick in and a Hartenstein decision has to be made. For now? Run it back and if there is an injury then yeah you have some matching and plenty of assets to fill it as needed.

If he takes a few steps of improvement won't his contract just become a bigger steal?

If he takes a few more steps , Presti will try and extend him again :D

Basically assuming you want an overpay for him , you are looking for 2 first at a minimum For another contender , wouldn’t they be better off trying to get 2 different upgrades with said 2 first ?

I think Wiggins/PJ is closer.

Presti giving up the long term bargain for the short term upgrade.

OKC shouldn’t take the OP though. And if Dallas got Wiggins for PJ, they should be looking for a follow up deal anyways.

I think OKC is generally going to value continuity highly, especially with cost controlled role players like Wiggins. Regarding Naji, I can see how he would be useful but I think OKC are probably content with Kenrich Williams filling this role at the moment, who has additional pre-existing cache as a culture setter.

Chicago has a couple of solid rotation level SG's that Dallas could look to target in Ayo and Huerter.

Is there a deal where Isaiah Joe goes to Dallas that makes sense without including PJ/Flagg/Ky/Lively?
