So he got 3/85 of new money? But Myles is only worth $20m or $24m per (depending on your sources)

So... wow.
Copy cat league. Centers are getting paid. Small scoring guards are not. Quick shift from 3 years ago

Yeah it's a Masai type move but considering how in demand centers are in the league it's probably a solid contract.

Quickley still owed 4/$130 mil. Now that's a bad contract.

Centers are not in demand. A few backups getting overpaid does not shift the market.
Likely a neutral contract at best. Don't hate it in a vacuum but stacking all these mid sized contracts before having your stars rarely works out.

I don't mind the money that much but the length is concerning. He's locked in until he's 34 now.

Top 12-16 Center currently. A bit steep for my blood but I understand the rationale.
Toronto is about to have 5 players all in the Top 150 and none in the Top 50. Should be interesting.

An overpay, but not enough to be problematic. He's tradeable on that contract, and i think the Raps are gonna be forced to rebuild in a year or 2, so having him under contract and bringing back assets is better than letting him walk. Letting him opt in and extend instead of balancing the total over 4 years is a mistake though, but they're cheap and dont want to pay too much this year

I'm confident outside of Barnes, the entire roster is bad contracts. I can't imagine being satisfied locking in the starting 5 the way they have. They are in the east though, so I wouldn't be shocked to see them make the playoffs.

Don't see the drama, legit starting center, high floor, low ceiling, fair contract...

Do not really understand the roster, but Poeltl is good enough to justify this contract.
Probably would’ve wanted him at 25 topping out but think this is close enough.

I'd be surprised if they didnt make the playoffs. Playoffs and a round win would be a big success for the Raps, and its within reach. Treadmilling in the east is a fine strategy for a lot of ownership groups...ambition is in the West

My question is the letter in between X and Z?

Opt in and extend means we have more breathing room to duck the tax in 26-27. RJ and possibly Ingram will be off the books by the time the 3/84 kicks in

His game is not built on athleticism and hops so should age okay (hopefully)

Centers are absolutely in demand and when the backups at one position are the first to go off the board and get overpaid, that's exactly what it means. Plumlee was signed on the second day of free agency and I'm not convinced he's still an NBA player.

Think they dont want a Siakam/OG redux happening again where they enter the season as an expiring and they are forced to make a trade before they walk. Bobby reportedly wanted to extend Siakam but Masai nix'd it. Alternatively also want to avoid what happen to FVV... lots of teams have major capspace next offseason
