Congrats to Danny Ainge to burning so much cap space on John Collins, Collin Sexton, and Jordan Clarkson in a desire to trade them later for picks, only to never manage to trade them for picks.

Even worse: to use picks to trade them. Keeping Collins on the roster is a huge mistake. Just offer him to Miami for Rozier and buy him out, that is better than holding.

No ****. He is an MLE+ level player making 26 Million. Teams don't want to spend assets to send their worse salary in order to pay Collins.
Another buyout candidate.

Yeah, the Jazz have 4000 PFs on the roster right now with Collins so keeping him would be dumb as ****.
Locke was talking about Markkanen playing the 3 when he's physically declined enough to where he sucked playing SF last year and he would block our extremely immature SF prospect who probably would NOT take this well... I mean, this is just stupid, come on, lol.

Collins at $18m is tradeable IMO. $25m is too much

I would have imagined in an expiring for expiring(s) deal he'd have some marginal value since several teams can cobble together worse players (or have an individual worse player) for his salary (e.g., Rozier).

I mentioned DeRozan + a charlotte 2nd for Collins.
I know Demar has that extra 10 million next year, but is Utah planning to be FA players next year? Even if they are, I cant imagine that 10 million kills them. At least they come away with an extra 2nd from Collins?

I'm not going to worry about this for even a second.

I think this would require more than one second to get off that 10 million.

I mean that's a no brainer for Miami if Utah is offering.

Think lakers have a BAE to offer collins once horford goes to the warriors.

Maybe? But all 2nds aren't created equally in this new environment. I mean Charlotte 2nd has a good chance of being 31-35. We just saw teams trading 3-4 2nds to get those picks.

I believe Nuggets can offer the same amount, though i might be wrong. If he's gonna come off the bench for either team, there's probably more opportunity in Denver.

Charlotte could really use him if we're trying to not have a 4th consecutive season of a glaring hole in the rotation causing our entire offense to short circuit

I don't think it will be that low. Regardless, there is a level of variance there that makes just buying out Collins preferable, imo.

Of course there’s some variance, but outside of the Nets, I wouldn’t project this current Hornets team over anyone else.
Another thought here, Collins certainly won't give much up to get bought out. Guessing DeRozan would.

I don’t know the exact math for the Celtics, but I think they’re around $500-600k over the 2nd apron after filling out the empty roster spots. Collins makes about $1M less/yr than Simons and the fact that he’s big and shoots 3’s makes him a good fit for the Celtics. His bird rights could be valuable to the Celtics next offseason too.
Could be something there with potentially a 3rd team involved if Utah isn’t interested in Simons.

Collins for Kuzma and couple second round picks (if Bucks have those) or they could have offered Markkanen and Collins for Lillard and first round pick. I think Bucks would have done that. Ainge doesn't seem to understand sometimes it is good to lose in the trade now if you get long term piece or even change to get a long term piece. Now he ends up giving players for free. Same will happen with Markkanen too. He is not going to be in the team when Utah reaches playoff next time in 4-5 years.
