MIA - SAC
———————————
MIA Gets: DeMar DeRozan, Malik Monk, & Dario Saric
MIA Gives: Andrew Wiggins, Terry Rozier, & Jaime Jaquez
Why for MIA? The Heat bring in a couple scorers & playmakers to help support Herro & Adebyao while also still having a strong defensive frontcourt (Ware & Adebayo) and strong POA defender (Mitchell) to help keep the defense afloat.
PG - Mitchell / Kasparas
SG - Herro / Monk / Larsson
SF - DeRozan / Highsmith / Fontecchio
PF - Ware / Jovic / Anderson / Johnson
C - Adebayo / Love / Saric
———————————
SAC Gets: Andrew Wiggins, Terry Rozier, & Jaime Jaquez
SAC Gives: DeMar DeRozan, Malik Monk, & Dario Saric
Why for SAC? The Kings take on Rozier's salary, but get a decent 3&D forward to play next to Murray. They also get Jaquez that can give them some more depth at the wing/forward spot off the bench.
PG - Schroder / Carter / Rozier
SG - LaVine / Ellis / Davis
SF - Wiggins / Jaquez / Clifford
PF - Murray / Raynaud
C - Sabonis / Eubanks / Collins

All these players are bad fits with Herro.
Maybe the problem is building around the all-star in Herro, but I would prefer defensive wings like Wiggins in between Herro and Bam rather than offensive guards who can't defend.

I don't want DeRozan at all. I've made that incredibly clear so I may not be the one to ask. This completely takes away the cap space were looking for next year. I think both Miami and Sacramento say no.

I tend to agree with this. I think what Miami needs is a point guard who can be a first option.

Which means trading Herro or Bam.

Or signing Dame.
Or using the draft
Or using free agency

If you just want a player who can be a 1st option on a mediocre team, Herro can masquerade as that and a point guard.
Good luck drafting a future point guard who can be a 1st option, especially without a Top 2-3 pick.
When will Miami have ample cap space and what point guards are set to be free agents? I don't think any are.

We'll have cap space next year, we have plenty of young players to trade and we'll have draft capital. It's about being smart with your resources. As Knicks fan, remind me again how you got your star point guard?

We traded an all-star center for Tyrese Haliburton.
Maybe you will trade Bam for Scoot?

Thought you were a Knicks fan. Either way, they were my point.

Didn't they just draft Jaku?

20th overall. I guess he could become a star, like 1-3% chance?

He could become an average or better than average starting caliber PG which they haven't had since Dragic got too old.

We're Miami. We develop players really well. I'm good talking my chances there. He doesn't have to develop into a star to show trade value. He has to show real potential, and assuming he does, with Ware and Jovic, is not an unattractive package.

He could. Or he could just be an average 20th overall pick and be a 6th-10th man in a rotation.

The main issue I see is Monk's contract runs through 27-28 and Miami seems intent on having max cap space in 2027. If I were running Miami, I'd do this deal so long as I had another deal in place to trade Herro.
Otherwise, I think Miami would prefer a smaller version of this deal around DeRozan, likely for Rozier.

Can you statistically prove Miami develops better?

Re: MIA - SAC
Stein and Fischer reported Miami and Derozan still active.
Miami seems to be positioning themselves for 2027 which makes way more sense. Adding Mitchell/Giannis to Bam is the real winner, not adding a star to Herro/Bam. Also with Wiggins, Mitchell, Bam, Herro, Kasparas, Ware, JJJ, and Jovic cap hit, It doesn't really seem like Miami can be real players in 2026 short of moving Wiggins + some young guys.
I think Sac asked for assets, Miami swiftly said no. Rozier straight for DeRozan makes the most sense for both teams.
Miami needs someone to help Herro score next year. Still keep 2027 open, doesn't stop them from signing Dame if he wants to go there. Sac clears that DeRozan out as we soft tank.

Better than whom? Do we need statistics to prove they develop well or do we know based on history?

You made a blanket statement that Miami is good at development.
I asked if there is evidence to this that makes you consider them good at it.
You made the statement. I asked for facts backing up the statement.
