Dallas - Demar and Springer

Dallas is left with about 4.5 mil under second apron with 12 under contract. So different options for staying under the second apron. Springer is just the cheapest player on Utah’s roster.. if they

Utah: Collins and Springer
Utah: Martin, Hardy, Saric, Powell, “seconds”

Utah looks to trade Martin somewhere but gets a good stack of seconds. Martin isn’t going to win any games at all obviously, but plays right way so might be good to have around the kids.

Sac: Demar, Saric, “seconds”
Sac: Collins, Naji, Prosper

Sacramento tries to balance their roster a bit. Collins is an okay fit and can play backup five minutes. Naji is a nice rotation forward locked up pretty cheap.

I'm pretty sure Utah fans are going to have a heart attack at the idea of eating Martin/Hardy. But IMO Martin is still a solid player, and can easily be flipped at the deadline for more assets. His contract isn't a killer at all.

Way too good for Sacramento at Dallas' expense. Demar is Demar, brings zero outsdie shooting or defense, and Bos couldnt wait fast enough to get rid of SPringer. Dont see why Dalals has to give up Naji and 2nds for the pleasure

Is Miami asking for a second if that opens the MLE for them? Two seconds?

Would Boston do Martin and Hardy for Simons to get under the tax? Would they need a second? Two?

Either fourth team brought in should stay legal and keep Utah getting 1-2 seconds..

I understand it, but I just don't get it lol. All the Jazz moves are signaling they are still in tank mode. Next years cap sheet is extremely clean with Lauri, Ace, Clayton and then a bunch of club options and Kesslers cap hold. Martin is a solid vet who plays multiple positions, and can be traded much easier than the high $ guys that Jazz held onto for too long.

I appreciate the team keeping options open, but that money is just going to be used to buy the next set of Sexton, Clarkson, Collins.

Sacramaneot does not deserve a huge expiring and solid role player for getting to dump Demar

Prosper/Springer swap is there just so Dallas has room to sign an actual vet min versus signing 2-3 zero year guys. Not adding any value for either player being included. But saving that money is important.

Could just take Springer out, keep Prosper in and then Dallas can sign 2 vet mins and a SRPEX contract. I’d like that better honestly..

I think I’d rather take a shot on getting lucky with a vet min than an extra G-leaguer to sit on bench.

As for Demar.. Sac is adding seconds to get the deal done.

Don’t lose any of the bigs, don’t lose Klay’s spacing, don’t trade the LAL first.. but add a playmaker that can play next to Kyrie when he gets back and will really improve the team when Kyrie is out.

Definitely. But BOS is also sending out Simons salary, so not sure if that entitles us to them. I think if we can get off free like that, awesome. I don't think we go so far as to contribute any 2nds though.

Stevens will of course do better than I would settle for.

If you're looking for someone who can explain the logic of this Jazz FO, I'm not that guy. But I'd rather they keep the options open for the next set of those guys than to take on worse ones for only marginal draft assets.
