Ball for Sengun+ ?

Two interesting moves this week.
The first was the Rockets signing Capela when they already have Sengun and Adam’s at center with Smith Jr. able to play there in short bursts.
The second was the Hornets picking up 3 PG’s in Mann, Sexton, and Dinwiddie when they already have Ball.
Do they indicate a potential trade on the horizon?
Ball for Sengun+ ?
Ball would bring additional star power to the Rockets championship aspirations.
Sengun would bring much needed size to CHA.
Do you think this is possibly the motivation for these odd moves? And if so, what would the Rockets need to add?

The plus is on the wrong side. Houston is never doing this

Ball is always hurt.
It seems unlikely other teams will value him that highly.

would rather just trade Ball for picks than a 54% TS big. you take Sengun off a very well built and coached team and put him on a trashfire like the Hornets and hes just Vucevic

I would pay money to watch Ime Udoka’s reaction trying to coach LaMelo Ball on defense.

Pass for Houston. Ball has only played 105 games total over the past 3 seasons. We just got one star that we have to hope stays healthy, don't need another.

Sengun has more value than Ball.

In Fanspo trade machine it says Hornets +4 wins after trade, Rockets -4 wins

So it is not just 1 + on wrong side it is like multiple + for Hornets to add..

Or as he hoists up his 3rd one footed 3 of the game

Given Ball's marketability, less than zero chance the Hornets do this.

I continue to be surprised how many posters still think Ball has superstar value. Super curious what we are basing this on? It's not his play. It's not his availity. It's not his leadership/intangibles. It's not his contract. It's no longer potential.
It honestly feels like he was once a high pick and he has some fun highlights, and we haven't bothered to reset to his max contract, his injuries, and that his game has done nothing to transform his team into even a mediocre one much less a winning one.

it's more that there's no reason to sell him cheap. Most of us don't have any expectation of a team offering full value, so that's why you rarely see a Charlotte fan actually making trades involving him.
Like the other Charlotte fan in this thread, I don't view Sengun like a star

Oh I get Charlotte fans are still in on him. But we just had a thread asking for AD plus plus plus from a Hornets fan. And here we want a better player plus plus plus.
I just don't get it. I get the attachment and the sunk cost and the keeping hope alive. I mean what is the alternative. I just don't get this belief he holds anything close to this value. Zach LaVine is a more helpful basketball player and we all agree he's negative.

Well, he's still only 23 and puts up gawdy counting stats. And most of his inefficiency is mental vs skill based. Even with all the wild, low percentage looks he takes, he's still a 36% lifetime shooter from 3. If he ever gets in a system with some accountability with a coach who demands he only take good looks within the flow of a real offense?
Of course, his health is the biggest red flag.

Trading a guy who can't play 45 games and is unserious in the ones he does play for a 23 yo all star is selling low. Ok.

I think Charlotte would need to add something of real significance for Houston to consider this. Kon possibly. Honestly, Houston might have no interest at any price short of an utterly foolish overpay.

Vucevic isn't in the same stratosphere as Şengün as a playmaker. If anything Udoka is underutilizing his ability by not making him more of a hub on offense. He was already showing it on a trash team coached by Silas.

Idk about that but the defensive gap is massive. Sengun is a decent rim guy but extremely underrated in space. Makes great rotation reads. Was quarterbacking that funky rotating zone defense against the warriors that allowed them to play double bigs and was making sure everyone was switching out in a way that let them keep Adams in the paint. People still caught on his first two seasons and his perceived archetype instead of how good he actually is on defense now.
Think Sengun's passing is a bit overrated honestly, scoring was down this year but he's been a plus TS% guy before this so probably just an aberration bc he couldn't make layups randomly this season

Yeah, I think we are nearing the point where Charlotte may end up trying to dump Ball and teams view him as a reclamation project rather than an asset. After all, Charlotte has won 27, 21 and 19 games in the last 3 seasons respectively in the woeful Southeast Division.
