S&T Kuminga to Wizards, Middleton to Jazz, Collins to GSW

Post#1 » by Bentley1225 » Fri Jul 4, 2025 4:50 pm

Ill offer this idea for:
-Washington lands Kuminga for a 4 year, $120 million deal with T.O. on year 4
-Utah to swap out excess frontcourt piece for a veteran starting calibre wing
-Warriors pick up a frontcourt piece in John Collins on expiring deal

To Washington (Trade Middleton, 2nds)
-Jonathan Kuminga (S&T, 3 years, $97.5 million, 4th year T.O.)

To Utah (Trade Collins)
-Kris Middleton (1 year, $33.3 million)
-2026 Chicago 2nd round pick
-2027 Brooklyn of Dallas 2nd round pick (more favorable)
-2028 Denver 2nd round pick

To Golden State (S&T Kuminga)
-John Collins (1 year, $26.6 million)

Why?
-Washington uses 1 of the major expirings and excess 2nd round picks to land Kuminga on a flat $32.5 million/year deal (McDaniels as comparable) with 4th year T.O.

Smart/Carrington/Johnson
McCollum/George/Johnson
Kispert/Jones/Riley
Kuminga/Coulibaly/Olynyk
Sarr/Holmes?/FA?

-Utah clears up excess frontcourt by landing expiring veteran wing in Middleton while getting back 3 2nds for further money they take on

Collier/Clayton Jr./Springer?
Bailey/Williams/George
Middleton/Sensaubaugh/Mykhaliuk
Markannen/Hendricks/Filipowski
Kessler/Nurkic/FA?

-Golden State replace Kuminga with a PF/C whome they can look to re-sign next summer. They can use exemption money to replace Looney and add VM players for depth.

Curry/Payton?/FA?
Hield/Podz/FA?
Butler/Moody/Santos
Collins/Jackson-Davis/Knox?
Green/FA?/Post

GS would have to send out more salary to make it work.

Byc means to match collins kuminga has to make like 39M+

This also puts them over the hardcap which is illegal

This trade hard caps GS at the first apron since Collins makes more than 50% of Kuminga's first year salary. Warriors need to clear other contracts for this to work.

Right, Kuminga S&T is hard to pull off..
Send Collins to LAL for Hachinura and Kleber, Kleber goes to MLE of WAS, Hachimura to GSW

none of this works CBA wise. None of this explains why Kuminga signs with Washington (yes I know its money, but again GSW can't trade him wherever they want to this matters, though apparently only to me lol).

I agree that this trade is unworkable CBA wise. I just wanted to say I think Kuminga would be very happy to sign in Washington. Washington is a team committed to developing its youth, and their biggest hole is at big forward. It's a perfect opportunity for Kuminga to show the league what he can do.

Agree that Kuminga would sign with the Wiz at that price. Just haven't seen a trade that works that the Warriors would go for.

The other problem here is that Ainge thinks Collins has value.

Collins is the best player in this deal.

True, though that isn't saying much.

Better for the Kings. Worse for the Warriors.

Something like
Warriors trade Kuminga and get back Kispert
Wizards trade Kispert (13.9M) Holmes (13.2M) get Kuminga(~28M)
Team 3 take Holmes into MLE or swaps him for 10.6M

I've already made this same trade on another thread, except Olynyk in place of Holmes. Olynyk goes to Denver into their MLE to replace JV.

(Keep in mind that Holmes' contract is only guaranteed for $500K. It is likely that he will be bought out and brought back at a much lower number than that $13.2M figure.)

nice!
I've wanted to see Kispert on GS with Curry since his draft (with him and Duarte appearing to be natural fits).
