Lakers and Blazers, Lakers fill some holes

LAL In: Thybulle and Rw3
LAL Out: Knecht, Vando, Kleber
POR In: Knecht, Vando, Kleber
POR Out: Thybulle and Rw3
Why for LA: They fill their POA defender need with Thybulle and they get a high upside backup C (who can be rested in the reg season on b2bs and maybe even not play much until the playoffs)
Why for Portland: They move 2 expirings and guys who may not even play for them for a young SG/SF in Knecht
The trade is a risk for LA since both guys are injury prone, but high upside. This is why Vando is being included as well, also able to dump his deal

Yeah, Vando is a negative contract. Can probably do Rui, Knecht, Milton for Thybulle and RWIII.
Would be a slight overpay by the Lakers, but the Blazers don't really have an incentive to move off of either player even though they are expirings.

There's legitimately nothing in that package that is worth giving up Knecht for. You're not going to get positive assets for RW3. Best case scenario, you'd get something like matching expiring and a SRP or two. Thybulle doesn't change the equation.

No chance Rui is in it. Would have to be a differenr package coming back, probably involving clingan. Just no chance lakers send 2 positive assets for 2 negative ones

I was with you until you mentioned Clingan. That is WAY too far in the other direction.

Good grief.
Pass for POR.

I agree with you. I'm just saying that the Blazers have no incentive to do a deal at fair value right now. I think they're fine holding on to RWIII until the deadline to see if he can stay a little healthy and improve his value. And they may want to just keep Thybulle going forward.

Lmfaoo now this is laughable
Rui is worth those 2 alone and more reliable
RW3 and Thybulle fetch 1 2nd each and an expiring
So the deal can also be Maxi/Gabe+Shake+2nd for RW3/Thybulle
Maybe a team like Portland should learn from previous mistakes
Such as valuing Grant as a major positive and wanting 2 1sts for him lol

Don't see the point in RW3, he's never going to play. I might do Gabe for Thybulle straight up but I'm not convinced Thybulle is any good.

Thybulle is a better 3 point shooter and WAY better defender. His health would be the only reason Lakers should have any pause. But Blazers should have no interest in such a swap.

I'm happy to keep Thybulle and Timelord. They should be able to get some meaningful playing time this season, if they can stay healthy.

Unless RW3 does something he hasn't done in his career, his value isn't changing. Teams aren't going to give up anything of significant value because he stays healthy for a few months. He's an expiring contract and a massive injury concern. At the very most, he probably fetches back a heavily protected FRP and an expiring contract if he's healthy and returns to his DPOY form that he had when he was with Boston, and at best that seems unlikely.

Both Thybulle and RW3 are expiring contracts
Portland could use a shooter but is well under the tax line and likely would prefer to not take on
bad contracts in a western conference that is going to be loaded.

I think the Lakers could do better with their expirings than Thybulle.

maybe, but it depends on how much long term salary they want. And it sure looks like they are trying to minimize long term salary
I think expiring contracts are overrated anyway. I just checked and it looks like there is around a billion dollars in expiring contract next season. The league is awash with expirings.

And this is why Portland continues to be irrelevant
Not trading expirings who aren’t part of the future for a guy who was drafted #17 and should’ve been drafted earlier is a bad move
Not trading Grant and demanding 1sts is laughable
