Huff to Pacers - Official Trade

Post#1 » by Wizop » Sat Jul 5, 2025 9:57 pm

Scotto

Update: The Indiana Pacers are trading a 2029 Portland Trail Blazers second-round pick and a 2031 second-round pick swap to the Memphis Grizzlies for center Jay Huff, league sources told @hoopshypeofficial.bsky.social.

Also, Griz signed Landale. I'm curious what Memphis fans think.

You should put official in the title, I thought this was a hypothetical trade!

I like Huff as a 3rd Center/5th Big. Fits out style of play incredibly well.

Honestly surprised at the value. I thought Huff was worth more and Lakers should have targeted him if he could be had this cheap.

Oops, made a thread on this.

He could start for Pacers honestly.

seems kinda light for the grizz and i probably would have kept Huff and Jock at least till the deadline with Edey ,JJJ out for awhile and Clarke always being hurt .

Yeah I agree, not really understanding the logic for them.

Maybe they didn't see the value.

If he starts and gets 24 min he might be a productive player numbers look good for 11.7 min per game.

Is it fair to say he fits the Pacers offensive style?

Value if fine for what Huff is. Decent on offense, below average on D. While Landale is decent on defense, and below average on offense. I think we decided that early in the season with guys out we are going to need more D and made this flip and got a little value and maybe a better fit.

Roster is full so no Landale unless we clear a roster spot.... maybe he took a camp deal with no GTD? Likely trying to find a big for Konchar still with some 2nds as a sweetener.

He showed something but not enough to be worth more I guess. Worth a flyer for the pacers

Huff is a great dude, but almost unplayable in the paint due to the lack of physicality and strength. Wishing him all the best. Really fun to watch.

Great get by the Pacers. Stevens really couldn't top the offer with two second round picks?

Today's Locked on Pacers speculates that Pacers are using a trade exception from last year's Wiseman dump.

Yup. Would maintain full flexibility of this years MLE, and the only issue is the hard cap incurred at the first apron by using a TPE from a previous season, which isn’t going to be an issue this year as we’re surely not crossing the tax threshold anyway.
