Boston sends Jaylen Brown for Anthony Davis.

For Boston, it gives them a better player (when playing) at a position of need. And, one that is already looking fragile in the year without Tatum so Boston can rest him a lot.

For Dallas, it gives them a strong wing partner for Cooper Flagg and one that is younger and less fragile. Also, center and PF (Lively, Gafford, PJ, Flagg) are a position of depth even without Davis.

So, why is it unrealistic?

(a) Big star for big star deals are rare.
(b) Nico Harrison already staked his rep on Anthony Davis.
(c) Trade Machines (tried 2 sites) won't accept it because of Boston signings despite it being roughly cap neutral.

It’s far from cap neutral. There is a 4.4 million plus difference. Boston would be hardcapped at the first Apron after this trade. They are not really in a position to manage that.

Penbeast, couldn't agree with you more. I've been pushing for this one since the Mavs were given the final piece #1 pick to the dreaded Luka deal.

Ad will likely miss 38 games, so with Tatum out its a much smaller hit this year. But the two of them together will put Bos right back the following season. Jaylen would allow Flagg and PJ to start together and already has a repetitoire with Ky.

I like it, and really want AD gone. Right or wrong he'll never be accepted by the Mavs faithful, so a change is welcome. Mavs could maybe get some 2nds as well.

I think that something more to fill out the Celtics and re-stock their depth would be more in line. Don't really like AD to the Celtics aside from the aesthetics of AD is kinda like KG and therefore seeing him in Boston would be sort of familiar.

I would similarly like to see something like Lively, Klay, PJ, all the picks for Brown

The "all the picks" part is where this breaks down. I think after last year, there's a bit less of a rush to trade all the picks for a #2 piece. Could probably make it work for no picks if you can make the salary work and you really believe in Lively.
