Chet does not get full supermax (5/250) or a player option.

Lots of injuries, but still a little surprised after a title.

The max for rookie extensions without an All-NBA team or equivalent award is 5/239 and the max with those qualifications is 5/287. So Chet will only get a minor bump if he makes All-NBA (even if he probably won't)

I'm surprised he got a rookie max period. I would've ridden out the season unless he took a discount.

Good for him, I don't think he deserved the escalators because of his injury history.
Didn't know he had Bill Duffy as agent, that's Luka andd Ayton agent.

I think this is great for OKC. No idea if he will qualify for a supermax or not, but keeping him below 30% is good for OKC.

Even just full 25% seems like a good deal for him given the injury history

OKC just seems to do just about everything right, big things, little things.Their fans are blessed. Bravo

Great player when healthy. However the injury history is quite concerning. I may would have waited to give him the contract, unless he was willing to take a bit less.

Yeah securing lifetime “f*** you” money is a great decision given his injury history

I mean he gets generational money and they lock up a core piece while showing players they take care of their guys. Seems win/win. Obviously some risk with this player archetype for OKC, but his 2nd contract feels like its worth the chance.

I can't believe Chet gets 50M per while J-Will gets a half. This is not a good assets management considering how handicapped Minny is having Gobert with Max deal. I know Chet is more versatile. Anyway, if you consider Wemby playoff bound pretty soon, bringing back Chet is an obvious move.

The OKC will lose significant depth next few years to come.

Think OkC realize the CBA forces a short window. They might as well maximize their title odds next two seasons.

yeah obviously a ton of risk with Chet but we won't win championships without him. Dort/Caruso/Cason are elite defenders but you can win without one of them but Chet provides an unique skillset to this team.

When you are close to winning another during the next few seasons, you pay your players within reason. If OKC wasn’t going max him someone else would.

Probably close to 0% chance he makes All-NBA anyway because of low usage and minutes.

Rudy’s not on a max deal. He’s making 36-37ish.

Chet could easily make an All Defense team if he remains healthy next year.

Guess I’m a little confused on the reporting, is his base the same as other 25% max rookie deals, but his escalators have been reduced?

I’m more than fine with this. Was always the plan and it’s not a bad deal with no options.

He would need to win the DPOY. All-Defense doesn't qualify you for 30% rookie extension.

Which is easier to replace?

Good call. Saw elsewhere that Defense teams count but looking again that’s not the case.
