25 years old. Two more years remaining at a ridiculously team friendly $11mill/per. Eligible for an extension this summer.

Quickly becoming one of the most valuable “3&D” wings in the league. I assume will see an increased offensive role with Tyrese out.

What would be a fair number for Aaron and the Pacers?

A max extension starts below what the MLE will be in 2027-2028. It will be difficult to extend him, but I would offer him 2 additional years this off-season.

2027-2028: $15,400,000
2028-2029: $16,632,000

I wonder if he accepts 32 Million over 2 years.

ya which is why i dont think he would be extended. fair price for him on open market is >20M year 1

Well, I'd be really surprised if Nesmith extended for that.

Me too, which is why this thread creation and question are very interesting.

The Pacers will offer him the max extension, maybe they already have. Most agree Nesmith is worth more than 15.4 and 16.7 million in 2 & 3 years from now.

Does Nesmith want to gamble on himself making 40-50 million or secure 31 million?

He'a not extensing from this number, he's getting 100/4 in the open market.
Neismith is a starting 3&D wing, that's higher value than Reid.

25-30 million dollars per year is quite reasonable. Most players of his skill are getting significant amount of money, so I don't see why Nesmith would be any different.

High end role players have gotten so hard to guesstimate contract value on under the new CBA. $25-30M seems really high for a purely 3&D guy, but he’s turned into being borderline elite at both at the wing position.

I had Turner being a decent bit more valuable than Nesmith as a rim protecting floor spacing big, but he went a good bit cheaper than I was expecting (thought he’d be a nearly $30M/year type guy and based on what Naz and Poeltl got I think he should’ve been).

It will probably depend on when he hits FA and how many good teams have cap space. In a year like this one where only a couple of teams could offer him more than the MLE (and those teams are rebuilding/wouldn’t be looking for a role player), he probably only would’ve got north of the MLE from Indiana using his bird rights. If he times the market correctly, I could see it going as high as $25M/year.

Nesmith was a 25 mpg guy. Elite role players don't get asked to sit half the game. So either Rick Carlisle doesn't know how to coach, or Indiana was intentionally trying to lose, even the finals when they played their supposedly elite role player only 28 mpg, or Nesmith isn't as elite and superb as he looks on paper in somewhat limited minutes.
A dark horse alternative is, Nesmith would foul out every game if he played 32 mpg.

Yeah, he fouls a lot and sometimes Mathurin gets more minutes. Not having Ty could very well impact Nesmith’s performance in a negative way. He could also elect to lock the 30 mil that comes with the two year extension. There is always the risk of injury that can be avoided.

But if I were his agent, I wouldn’t recommend he sign any extension.

If I were his agent I would recommend he sign an extension. I'm also a Pacers fan though

Hard to knock Nesmith for 25-28mpg when Indy succeeded off depth? For example, in the playoffs, Haliburton, Nesmith, and Siakam all largely tied for the team lead with 33mpg.

Even with Myles gone, paying Nesmith and Mathurin's next contracts while staying below the 2nd apron probably doesn't work. One will probably have to be moved and this year's play will guide the choice.

The Pacers were a very deep team last season.
