BRK | CHI | UTAH: Help complete this big man shuffle

Chicago in: Nic Claxton

Brooklyn in: Big old trade exception

Utah in: Nikola Vucevic (into the $26m John Collins Trade Exception)

What additional compensation, and from whom, do you feel would be needed to balance this trade.

Why for Chicago
Get an athletic, rim-running, shot blocking center.

Why for Brooklyn
Moves off the future money owed to Claxton and saves money this year too

Why for Utah
Assumption is that along with Vuc's expiring comes some draft compensation, I'm just not sure how much and from whom

I think both Brooklyn and Utah are owed value, probably a first each? And not the Portland first that will become 2nds. Chicago probably shouldn't give those picks, though.

Brooklyn already has to spend a lot of money just to get to the floor (I think.. feels like they need to spend like 20 million more somewhere)

Taking 25 million more wouldn’t create a TPE it would just create a bigger need to spend money.

Could say they’re front loading Kuminga and Grimes then resign Cam Thomas and hoping any develop into something?

But think you just cut Utah out since Brooklyn needs salary back anyways realistically..

Why would Utah do this?

The Nets would need an unprotected 1st and likely a swap as well.

He said in his post that they're getting compensation for the salary dump. He's asking for help with the "why" in terms of what compensation is fair.

I don't see why BRK includes Utah here. Savings are always welcome but they're below the floor after this I believe and even if not, I think they're at a low enough cost where keeping the extra draft compensation is better.

I'll be honest, a a Brooklyn fan. I don't think Nic is worth pure capspace AND a 1st. A 2nd would suffice imo, in terms of pure value. Or an expiring contract of similar size and a 1st.

However, as others have mentioned, we are the last team needing to shed salary immediately. Give us Vuc and a 1st, cut out Utah and call it a day.

Unprotected first round picks or pass. And people will say that’s too much. So seems like a non starter.

How about Vuc/Phillips/Port 1st/future 2nd for Claxton?

Not a Claxton fan, but Chi definitely owes value here
