BOS / MIL / CHI

BOS gives: Simons, Hauser
BOS gets: Patrick Williams, Tyler Smith

Why? They would get to $53K under the tax with this deal. Patrick Williams at $18M/year for 4 more doesn't sound great but Hauser has a 4 year deal himself so by the end of the deal they're offsetting 2/3 of it. BOS also lacks front court options so Williams being more of a PF than SF like Hauser helps with that and Smith is a lottery ticket for the front court too.

MIL gives: Kuzma, Smith
MIL gets: Simons

Why? Same idea that's been discussed. They get a better fitting expiring player for Kuzma. Smith as a lottery ticket prospect is the modest cost of it.

CHI gives: PWilliams
CHI gets: Kuzma, Hauser

Why? They use their tax room and TPE to take on more salary this year but shed a chunk of money overall.

Can Hauser play defense at the 3? Shooting numbers seem good, but don’t know enough about his game

I would sacrifice a pick (not 2026) to dump Simons if that meant not having to trade for Patrick Williams.

Celtics would be better off buying out Simons and stretching his contract than taking on a contract that will cost a lot to move while also giving up Hauser for nada.

Not that I think stretching him is on the table, but no chance of the Celtics taking on such a terrible contract and giving up 2 valuable players for the opportunity to do so. For a team trying to tidy up their future finances this offseason, taking on PWill seems brutal.

Bucks want a two way big wing, not a guard who can't defend.

Join the club. Everyone wants that. But Kuzma wothout picks attached doesn’t land that.

The Celtics are in a bad spot with Simons. On one hand, the Celtics should not do this. Taking on Patrick Williams contract without assets is simply bad value for the Celtics. On the other hand, Simons is neutral/negative value at this point, so it wouldn't make sense for anybody to pay anything of value to get Simons. Celtics are going have to ride it out to begin this season with Simons, and just hope his expiring contract becomes valuable enough towards the trade deadline where they would be able to dump his contract without attaching assets.
