Rozier to LAL

MIA trades: Terry Rozier
LAL trades: Maxi Kleber, Gabe Vincent
Miami moves Rozier for less money and the return of a familiar face. LAL trades two non-rotation quality players for a guard who makes a lot of sense next to LeBron, Luka, and Reaves. Rozier can play off-ball + be an acceptable defender.

A team with playoff aspirations shouldn’t be trading for players with betting allegations imo. Sadly i rather have Gabe.

Lakers need contributors that don't need to score

Both Kleber (when healthy) and Vincent were better rotation players than Rozier last year.
I'd gamble on Kleber making one last push for one last healthy season before gambling on Rozier being a positive contributor.

Rozier was cleared, both by the NBA and the FBI
https://www.si.com/nba/shams-charania-reports-heat-guard-terry-rozier-cleared-betting-investigationStill though, the Lakers shouldn't do this and, really, for Miami, this would be trading for trading's sake as we need neither player we get.

Rozier would ironically be viewed more favorably if he had been intentionally throwing games.

Link doesn’t say he cleared by the FBI. Shams said it’s a federal matter now in the hands of court

Full quote:
"Terry Rozier, as of right now, has been cleared," Charania told McAfee. "He finished the season with Miami. There's really nothing active as of right now with him. NBA spokesman Mike Bass did give a statement to me yesterday. He said the league is cooperating with federal prosecutors. This is a federal matter now. "
Yeah, there's a betting issue, but Rozier has been cleared.

Yeah, there's a betting issue, but Rozier has been cleared.
The NBA spokesman giving a statement implies that he was cleared by the NBA. Not by the NBA and FBI.
Shams following up that it is a federal matter now implies that the FBI are still doing the investigation.
The FBI investigation sounds very much ongoing.

Cleared, dude. He didn't say by the NBA. That happened before he was traded to Miami!

Guess we agree to disagree. What’s a federal court matter mean if he cleared? Does NBA spokesman have authority to speak on a federal investigation?

At this point I’d rather take 2 chances on one of Vincent/Kleber rather than 1 chance on Rozier to be a decent rotation player. None of these players are attractive options but Vincent/Kleber are cheaper and easier to trade if needed down the line.

The gambling is a federal issue. What does cleared mean to you?

An NBA spokesperson has no authority to speak for DOJ. When the DOJ announces its closed it's investigation, it's closed. The NBA spokesperson even said *at least as of now* which leaves open the possibility things might not be closed in terms of law enforcement.
There's no trade market for Rozier. That's been reported. It seems a silly thing to argue about. If the Heat aren't willing to incentivize a trade partner to take him, he's not going anywhere, at least not anytime soon.

I think Vincent and Kleber will be a lot more beneficial to LAL than Rozier would.
Also, Vincent wasn't a non-rotation player and played very well the second half of the regular season. With Luka in there instead, I think he'll continue to do well.

It means the NBA cleared him and waiting to see what the FBI decide to do? If the FBI cleared him I do not see how it could still be a federal court matter . That is not logical.

I've read the full quote. Have you? The NBA cleared him before he went to Miami. You think Shams is rehashing old news? Is that something he's likely to do?
