Seems like their offseason is set now.

They needed this defensive guard and they got a starting C. All made possible because DFS left and they replaced him with a player $7m cheaper (LaRavia).

Think either Smart or Reaves ends up in that 6th man role, but that's probably splitting hairs at this point. There's probably another move or two that could be had here. Could use Gabe Vincent and Maxi Kleber's expiring contracts along with Dalton Knecht for something semi-decent.

Lakers still have Vincent+Kleiber expiring contracts plus picks to trade. They can add another piece.

If he can return to form, this is a huge move for the Lakers. They needed a point of attack defender badly.

I agree that the Lakers did fine. They would have only had 1 of Ayton/Smart had they kept DFS.

The Lakers plan is get to the playoffs healthy, where LeBron/Luka have a chance to beat two of the 3 best players in any series.

I like this quite a bit for LA. Smart should provide better minutes than Vincent (a low bar), and maybe he will be revitalized a bit in an environment where he is only asked to do what he is best at.

Just happy don’t see Gabe play minutes again for the lakers.

Must be nice to be in LA.. Always sort of liked the idea of Smart helping Luka though. So like this for LA a good amount
