LAL/SAC

LAL in: Malik Monk
SAC in: Gabe Vincent and Dalton Knecht

LAL: Not necessarily the archetype I think LA should be targeting, but I was listening to the LFR podcast and they made a compelling case for why Monk could be a viable backup guard in LA. He can play both on and off the ball, brings speed and athleticism on the perimeter (that LA sorely lacks), and would allow the team to run in transition more frequently.

SAC: This assumes they want to get off Monk's contract, which I believe might have been floated around at the start of free agency. They get an expiring back-up guard that can help them this season in Vincent and an asset (however distressed he may be) in Knecht that could blossom into a quality rotation player.

While the market has shown that the value for undersized SGs is not high, Monk should be able to fetch better than this. Dalton is simply not good and Gabe has no place in the NBA outside of Heat culture

Yeah, I don’t even love Monk’s fit in LA but this is too good of value to turn down.

Really doesn’t do anything for Sac though imo.

It has to include Rui otherwise there’s no reason for Sac. And even then it’s tough.

What? I'm ok getting Monk, but no way in trading Rui for him, Lakers need as much size as possible.

Vincent & Knecht for Monk does not work because the Lakers are hard capped at the 1st apron and are only about $1M below that limit. Technically Rui & Knecht works (Kings have the space under the luxury tax to absorb the difference), but not sure the Lakers would do that

Don't disagree. But getting Vincent/Knecht does nothing for me.

Doesn't feel like there is a trade between Sac and LA that makes sense.

I don't get the point of these sort of trades for the kings, we don't get better we don't get anything for our future, we just become a farm team for the lakers.

No thanks. Send some sort of value or we should just keep our guys.
