Tor - Charlotte

Post#1 » by 2588david2588 » Thu Jul 24, 2025 5:30 pm

If both teams struggle to win next season:

To Tor: LaMelo Ball+ Miles Bridges+ Tidjane Salaun

To Charlotte: Scottie Barnes + I. Quickley+ Gradey Dick

The change of scenery will do wonders for both teams, hopefully.

change of scenery is not a good enough reason to do this. Ball misses way too much time. pass

Absolutely not. The Hornets will likely struggle because they have an unserious PF/C depth chart and the last thing they should do is add that Quickley contract to the book while removing LaMelo.

If TOR fails to win next season, it is more than likely because they only have one C, or BI isn't the guy to be a #1 option. If that happens, they should prepare to select their lottery pick, try to flip BI for value, and maybe try to balance the roster for the first time in 5 years.

Also, if the Toronto FO goes out and acquires players like Melo, Bridges and Saluan after all the talk about "building around players who play both ends", I think the hypocrisy might kill me

"Change of scenery" shouldn't be the only reason to throw trades together on this board. This makes zero sense for either team.

if Lamelo plays most of next season, its a hell no for Charlotte, If Lamelo misses most of next season, its a hell no for Toronto.

cant see it happening.

Hornets pass. As bad as things have been watching a team go nowhere for 20 years, I would not switch places with the Raptors right now.

I mean they got rid of FVV and Siakam because 80 mil was to high and now they are paying Ingram, quickly and Barret 100 mil for the next 2 years. rofl

Raptors are cooked and not even trading LaMelo for bad contract Scotty Barnes would fix their problems.

I have the value here as pretty close, but I could see the Raptors passing due to LeMelo's health.

Scotty isn't a bad contract. LaMelo is given his health issues.

I think Toronto should pass. We don't know what CMB will be vs actual NBA scores players and Toronto loses two 3 point shooters on a team struggling to shoot. I probably dislike Bridges the most out of every NBA player I don't want him on this team and would probably pick a different team if he was on this team.

I get Lamelo is very good but in his last 3 seasons he's played 36/22/47 games I hope he comes back but I am not risking trading Barnes plus IQ and Gradey Dick right now

Honestly Charlotte needs to surround LaMelo with some actual players which they seem to be doing this offseason although they are obviously still missing a legit big man. It's hard to judge Ball with the surrounding "talent" they have been rolling out. Ofc maybe he's the type who just can't stay healthy. If I'm Charlotte I bring in a big man between now and the deadline and then make a decision on Ball next offseason whether to build around him or move on. He would still have 3 years remaining on his contract but at least it's not a max deal and probably still movable if they choose to do that.

Melo has to stay healthy enough to play 60 games before the Hornets worry about building around him.

Charlotte would be fools to pass this up. They would still need their first option, but now they are starting to put together some pieces that will make sense around that guy.

The only reason to prefer trying to make it work with Ball is simply fan attachment. He's too unreliable health wise and too YOLO in his play. Yeah the highlights are super cool, but its time to actually try to win there.

I kind of like it for both.
Charlotte is a team needing to rebrand their identity. Kon - Miller - Barnes is a solid start to that puzzle.

Toronto needs a higher upside. Lamelo for all his faults represents that. I'm convinced in a new situation he is actually playing for something, he wouldn't have as many "injury issues".
Lamelo - Barrett - Ingram - Bridges - Poeltl and a clear path for a Boyles starting spot.
