I think Char wants to start winning games, and they need a real center. Vuc has his flaws (defense) but he's very good on offense (scoring, passing, screens) and is a very good rebounder. Plus, he's a respected vet, plays nightly and is expiring

Chi needs to move on, and see what they have with younger guys

Char sends PatC/JGreen/2026 least favorable of Wash, Suns, Orl, Memphis to Chi
Chi sends Vuc and Port 1st (lotto protected thru 2028, then 2 seconds)

Char gets a starter cheaply and saves $ next summer

Bulls get a for sure pick. Green's money for 2026-27 is a bummer, but the Bulls can handle it, and he's a decent player (when he's healthy)

With the way Charlotte is operating they seemingly have something in the works as a trade target. They keep accumulating guards. Lee wants to play 5 out, so Vuc makes the most sense rather than overpaying picks for Gobert or taking a chance on Embiid (still think Minny is secretly shopping him)
