Utah - Indiana - Philadelphia

Next part of my attempts to find a home for remaining RFAs:

Indiana trade: Mathurin
Indiana receive: Grimes (S&T 3/53M), 2nd worse of 2027 CLE/MINN/LAL 1st

Philadelphia trade: Grimes (S&T 3/53M)
Philadelphia receive: Hendricks

Utah trade: Hendricks, 2nd worse of 2027 CLE/MINN/LAL 1st
Utah receive: Mathurin

Why for Indiana: get a cost controlled 6th man and a pick instead of potentially overpaying mathurin to come off the bench when hali is back
Why for Philly: get a forward prospect whose a former lotto pick
Why for Utah: take a gamble on Mathurin's upside
Why for Grimes: get more than MLE and a bigger role than he would on the sixers

add 2nd(s) as needed

Hendriks lost a year of development, and he was a project, no reason for UTA to trade him for a player looking for extension...

Hendricks might be a little too raw and is coming off a gruesome injury.

Someone like Tari Eason for Grimes would be much more appealing.

I like Mathurin and wouldn't mind having him in Utah, but not at the expense of Hendricks—whose upside I'm still quite high on—let alone adding an FRP.

Taylor Hendrick hasn't really that impressive in his NBA career. Not to say there isn't still upside with him, but I rather swap Grimes for a additional 1st round pick and decent filler.

Eason for Grimes make sense, but Sixers owe value on this exchange.

Dont think grimes can fetch that

Would have already been signed or traded if he had that type of value.

You can make that argument, but I don't find Taylor Hendricks straight up appealing for Quinten Grimes. He hasn't shown enough to be worth swapping Grimes for. He has upside, but he also has a lot of bust potential based on his already alarming injury history and the fact he hasn't looked all that good even on the rare occasions where he has been healthy.

BKN gets Oubre and two future PHi 2nds
HOU gets Mathurin, Drummond, and 28 LAC 1st
IND gets Grimes (S&T 3-48)
PHI gets Adams and Eason

Mathurin > Grimes in value imo.

I don’t see the Sixers making any of these trades. If you want Grimes you will have to knock the Sixers socks off,or grossly over pay him.

Utah isn't going to add another guy who needs an extension. They already overpaid Lauri and now Kessler is in line for his extension. More importantly they need a high pick in next year's draft. If they make a trade it would most likely involve them renting out capspace for draft capital.

Probably, but also, if Mathurin could return Eason, Indy just takes that, no? Use Nesmith/Sheppard more at 2 than 3, and run Eason/Walker/Siakam/Obi as the forward rotation, with a lot of small ball minutes if Obi/Walker playing some 5?

Downside is you have to (over)pay eason too potentially. I like the idea of a cost controlled grimes for them

The cost control problem with mathurin for the pacers is he's due starter's money but we don't have an open starting guard spot after Tyrese returns. Grimes doesn't change that. Eason does as he is a 3.

Grimes is paid 6 man money in OP. I think Eason asks for over 25M.

Wouldn't Eason start ahead of Nesmith? AA becomes 6th man.

I think Nesmith earned his right to be a starter

I'm thinking a year ahead. This year Nesmith would start at 2 if Mathurin were traded.
