WAS trades: Corey Kispert, 2026 1st rounder (worst of OKC/HOU/LAC pick)
GSW trades: Jonathan Kuminga (S&T for $22.5m/yr for 3 or 4 years)

WHY FOR WAS? Player for higher upside in Kuminga.
WHY FOR GSW? Get the young player and 1st rounder that they wanted in return.

To avoid a first apron hard cap, should include Santos and:or add more money to Kuminga’s deal.

I don’t think Kispert is seen as a young player at all, but the deal might still be worth it for Golden State.

I done think Kispert has positive value - but GSW may be a uniquely good fit for his movement off ball shooting. I think they is a quality deal for both sides. Maybe have WAS throw in a few SRP just b/c Kispert isnt really young and is arguably overpaid.

I think that this would be better for both honestly if, instead of the 2026 "worst of" pick, we got our 2030 pick back.

Kispert does not have value, probably requires a first for a team to eat, so this isnt close IMO

But why would anyone give that back for kuminga? Its not like he is a star. I think getting the first from op already is a stretch

The value is fine, but the Wizards already have a zillion young forwards on the roster and would have a hard time getting them all minutes. They already have:

Bilal Coulibaly
Cam Whitmore
Kyshawn George
Justin Champagnie (He's good. Go look at his stats)
Will Riley

And the top of the 2026 draft is loaded with more forwards.

My guess is that the Wizards lost any interest in Kuminga talks once they acquired Cam Whitmore for just two SRP's. I could see the Wizards participating as a 3rd party in a Kuminga trade, but they would do so in an effort to acquire either pick capital, a PG, or a center.

Does the presence of Whitmore give Wash pause? It seems to me there is not a lot minutes there not already covered by young players that want to develop along with Coulibaly and George. But the value is good for Washington so hard to argue with it. For GS, can Kispert get rotation minutes...do you really need him and Hield when you still have Podz and Moody needing minutes. If I could get a better rotation player from Sac and a pick I rather go in that direction if the money works.

I don't see any reason to think that Kuminga is any more promising of a prospect than Whitmore. Their numbers are very similar, as is their reputation for being hyper-athletic bucket-getters who struggle to integrate within a team concept. The big difference is that Whitmore is 2 years younger and is being paid roughly 10% of what Kuminga expects to be paid.

I'd rather bank on the 21-year-old with 2 year of experience changing his stripes and learning to play team ball than a 23-year-old with 4 years of experience.

I prefer Kuminga as he has shown signs of being a decent man defender at times where Whitmore has shown less interest in that side of the ball during his NBA career and will be coming up on a contract himself.

But as I said, "if you're not a big believer in Cam." If you are, or if you don't think Kuminga should be a starting NBA forward, then you don't make the trade. I don't see a need for both of them unless it's a real giveaway deal.

Wiz fans are ignoring GSW is owed value just for taking on Kispert in this OP. So then its a matter of what are you giving up for Kuminga.

Kispert makes $13,975,000 this upcoming season. With Santos added you'd need to start Kuminga's new deal at $23.51M to avoid the hard cap, which seems doable, especially if it's a flat/declining deal.

Yeah, if Washington is signing Kuminga, they should front load it. Whether that starts at 23 or has to be higher, I don’t know. But I’d definitely be front loading it..

And I think Kispert would be a decent fit in GS honestly.

Don’t hate the OP for GSW. Considering the protection of the 2030 pick, I’d wonder about getting it and the OKC pick… Washington can keep the 2030 second.

I like Kispert's fit in GS a lot. I think he's undervalued right now because Washington's offense is a mess and his skillset requires a certain amount of structure to maximize. But I think he'd be a great fit in Kerr's system.

I am going to amend my trade a bit by adding Chicago into the mix:

CHI trades: Isaac Okoro
CHI receives: Corey Kispert, CHI’s 2026 2nd round pick back from WAS

Why for Bulls? Trading a shorter contract and better defense in Okoro, but get their 2nd rounder back next year and better shooter in Kispert.

Get the highest upside player of the trade in Kuminga.

I concur that Kispert is undervalued, just because WAS’s offense is still a work in progress, and he’s a role player. On a team like GS, he’d look better in a Duncan Robinson type role, who’s even better with putting the ball on the floor and attacking the basket. I still think WAS owes a bit of value, though not a 1st. After the Whitmore trade, I’m not sure how much Washington needs Kuminga, so I’m skeptical on including a first.

I think something like Kuminga for Kispert, 2 2nds, and one of Branham, Dillon Jones, or AJ Johnson, would be a fair trade.

Kispert seems a bit redundant with Buddy, but I think it is good for Kerr to have some of those movement shooters to work with. I like this a lot.
