Yahoo article. I actually like this for both teams. Makes sense to me..

Los Angeles Lakers Receive: Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, a 2031 first-round pick swap with the Sacramento Kings (that San Antonio acquired in the DeMar DeRozan trade) and a 2032 first-round pick swap

San Antonio Spurs Receive: LeBron James and Bronny James

Can we stop pretending like LeBron is going to leave LA?!

He went there for his family & businesses, he just makes empty threats to try & exert some level of control (and failing to do so) but he's not going anywhere. But if by some fluke he did it would be to a team that is an INSTANT contender, not one just trying to gain some experience and begin a build up like the Spurs.

We all know LeBron is in his final quarter/dying moments of his career and as such if he's going to veer away from all the personal things that brought his family to LA (which will likely be their "forever" hometown )-- it's to take one last swing at the GOAT convo with a clear championship contender. Leaving to a relatively smaller market just for a mentorship role to Victor is pointless especially when Luka is more ready to win now & has a style of play that is closer to LeBron's game.

We just posting stupid made up out of nowhere fantasy trade ideas on the GB now?

Edit: I didn't know I wasn't on the GB. Sorry OP. Still though, It's not a Yahoo article. It's a Sporting News article posted on Yahoo. Sporting News is basically the Reddit of sports sites. They post nonsense trade thoughts with click bait headlines several times a day.

Lol, at least you caught yourself.

I think it makes sense to share the source of the idea if the OP agrees with it, but OP should probably include the reasoning for both teams rather than leaving that part up to us clicking.

What do you think happens next summer? Does he retire or does he take a massive pay cut to stay in LA? It seems like it’s his last as a Laker either way.

Spurs wouldn't have offered this much for 37 year old KD. No chance they will for 41 year old Lebron.

luka + lebron is going nowhere in the west

i hear a lot of hope and trust in a fading lebron who no longer affects the w/l or +/-
in particular he has to be on a contender or he's just an appendage on an also ran

sas ain't going nowhere with him either. it feels like there's some angst @cavs. they got blowed up by indy. he should go there w/bronny

lebron+allen+mobley looks enticing on paper

Headline:

Lakers predicted to trade

Actual text:

Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey proposed one Lakers trade idea

Zero ground, zero rumours, zero credibility.
Zero sense for Spurs as well - LAL make it out like a bandit.

All we need to know about sports media these days.

I don’t know about that. Luka pretty much carried an average Dallas roster to the Finals. If he is in great shape, he could have his best year ever.

i luv luka
but there's a built-in reverence in regards to lebron so there will always be some amount of deference. it will never TRULY be luka's team until lebron is gone

LOL as if LeBron would waive his NTC to finish his career in SA and have to deal with Pop.

Hypothetically this deal is an insane steal for LAL. Adding draft capital to be used in a future trade for a superstar and 2 potentially useful cheap role players would be a slam dunk no brainer. Lakers will be worse this season but sets itself up beautifully in the future maximizing the odds of trading for a disgruntled superstar forcing his way to be Luka’s running mate.

Edit: Holy **** nvm. I didn’t realize how overpaid these 2 are. Keldon is sorta fine, overpaid but he expires by 2027. Vassel otoh has a long term deal that’ll impact the Lakers ability to outright sign a max deal, his deal is too long, so unless he balls out like crazy he’s a negative contract. If one of them was a higher quality PF/C type, then maybe it can work, but they’re just 2 overpaid tweeters with no standout skills and none too attractive as a salary package even of LAL unloads all their picks.

Swap out Vassel for expiring Harrison Barnes.

Makes a lot of sense actually. Lakers want that 2027 cap space and SAS seems like they're partners with the Klutch Agency so if LeBron can get traded there, SAS probably gives him a 2yr $110 million to keep the revenue coming in. I actually like this quite a lot and think its more likely than some people are giving credence

It makes sense that the Spurs would be happy to add Lebron, and that Lebron would be happy to go there.

It doesn't make sense for the Spurs to pay that much for a 41 year old free agent though, or for the Lakers to trade him at a price the Spurs would pay.

It's a fair trade. Vassell is a great player on a reasonable contract, Johnson can be a nice back-up wing, and the two pick swaps are icing on the cake.

Nothing the Spurs have done says they'd consider a trade like this. The read these boards have on the Spurs is really, really off.
