Celtics get a dynamic scorer for 20m/yr which puts them under the 1st apron

White/Thomas/Brown/Boucher/Queta

Nets get a young stud on an expiring deal as insurance in case they get on a standstill with Thomas

Demin/Simons/MPJ/Sharpe/Claxton

Don't see the Celtics taking on Cam Thomas for $20+ million for multiple years. I think this is dead in the water. Celtics have no problem playing Simons until the mid-season trade deadline and possibly the whole season if they have to and just let Simons expire. Celtics are not going to mess up their future cap situation for players that they don't really want.

Yeah the reason Brooklyn would do this is the same reason Boston wouldn't - they don't see him as a guy who's worth $20M a year for multiple years.

Let's add the bulls to the mix,

Bulls get - Nick Claxton

Nets get -
- Simons
- Dylan Terry
- 1st rd pick Portland ( via chi ) Lottery protected

Celtics get -
- Nikola Vucevic
+ 2nd rd pick Via Chicago

I think if Claxton is on the table then the. Celtics would rather have him than Vuc

I know you have to take context of a tanking Nets team into consideration, but honestly I don't even know who is considered the better player between Anfernee Simons and Cam Thomas?

Who is supposed to be the better player here, because I have no clue what the consensus around that would be??

Celtics are trying to clear books and reload for 26-27. They'll gladly let Simons contract expire, and would want no part of Thomas on the books for years.

That and it doesn't alleviate the Cam Thomas issue, just doubles down at the same position.

I would do this for Brooklyn. I like Dalen a bit, he and the 1st are fair incentive for me.

This is more for the scenario that they don't wanna pay Cam and won't be signed to a qualifying offer. Brooklyn also gets to buy time with Simons on a shorter deal.

Boston on the other hand could get a slightly cheaper player that puts them below the 1st apron and can come off the bench when JT comes back

Boston can find that for less than 20m per year.
I mean they can likely bring back Simons if they want for less.

Yeah paying a guy $20M+ to come off the bench (at the easiest bench position to fill) seems like a bad plan, especially when they already have Pritchard to play essentially the same role, especially especially when you have your top 3 guys making ~$150M a year.
