Any Interest in CWhite?

I like Coby a lot. He has consistently improved, works hard and is a great teammate. I have no problem keeping him but I love defense and if we are keeping Giddey, having White means 2 below average defenders in the starting lineup. Ideally, White would be a high minute 6th man, but that's not happening in Chicago.
He's on a cheap deal (for a near-All Star entering his prime) but it's only one more year. Reports are that he wants 30+ next summer, but the market for one way scoring guards seems weak.
Any interest? I'd like us to trade for Lauri, but I doubt Utah wants CWhite when they're clearly tanking. My goal would be to have
Okoro/TJones
Giddey/Ayo
Matas/Huerter
Lauri/Noa
JSmith/Collins
I think that could be a fun team. It's big and fast and has some upside

His contract makes him an attractive final piece type for a title contender
Denver: strawther, Holmes, Watson for White

I think "near all star" is an oversell. Don't think he's particularly close. Good player though.
It's tough with the contract status. You can't practically extend him now since the salary to start off of is so low. That means you almost have to go to market which still hasn't yielded much clarity on his archetype. You can look at the depressed trade value of scoring guards on big money deals, but there was also no cap space league wide. I feel like the dust still hasn't fully settled on how the new CBA is going to impact the market of non max players yet since there hasn't been a free agency with much real cap space league wide available like we should have this offseason. Going to market with a player will be a bit of a mystery and thus risky. I think that will preclude anyone from paying the kind of price for him that a CHI fan won't find insulting.

OKC for Joe + a 1st would be mildly interesting if they want more pop off their bench.

Seems like a replacement level player to me.
I think you would be lucky to get a late first.

I think that while he's on the high side of the offense-only combo guard type that still doesn't give him much trade value. I don't think Chicago can trade him for a meaningful long-term asset.
So Chicago might as well keep him. They can probably resign him next summer and even if they don't it's not like there was a lot of value lost.

I don’t think Chicago actually wants to move him at all. They want to be a play-in team and he helps that. They can get Lauri without including Coby (since Coby isn’t worth multiple firsts?)… Understand the defense wouldn’t be good, but unless there’s a real rebuild/retool coming - just add whatever talent you can..
But for the fun of the thread.. Turn Coby/Patrick into Kuzma and a top 6ish protected first. Then turn Kuz+salary+first into Lauri. Add the Portland first probably?
Or.
Coby to Dallas
Lauri and Klay to Chicago
Huerter, Collins, Carter, 2029 LAL first to Utah
But feels like Dallas is owed and Chicago owes..

He's a bench guard. If he is willing to sign a contract that reflects that then plenty of teams would have interest.

Can't see Utah having any interest in this.

He was 23rd in total points scored last season on .601 TS%, you're not even close.

If you gave Malik Monk or Anthony Morrow enough shots they might do something similar... there's a reason those guys aren't getting that many shots or minutes though, same reason Coby shouldn't be. Because he's a bench guard.

Malik Monk TS last season .549
Anthony Morrow career TS .569
Try again, this is weak

Malik Monk TS last season .549
Anthony Morrow career TS .569

But Coby is not a career 60% TS shooter. Morrow has 2 years where he shot over 60%, and Monk had 2 years where he shot 59 and 60% rounded up. That sounds pretty 'similar' to me. Coby's career TS% is actually lower than Morrow, and about the same as Monk.

You think it's "similar" when guys score 790, 899, 1048, 1041 points and 1509?
I mean it's "only" 50% difference, anybody could do it? Just admit you're not serious.

The points aren't similar, which I never suggested, and I didn't even suggest these 2 were 'similar' quality players. All I said was if you let these guys jack up enough shots in a conducive system you might see similar results.
I am not going to rate Coby White on the total number of points/TS% he got, because his ideal role is bench guard.

If he really wants 30+ next season, his value is probably as an expiring albeit a valuable scoring one.
Wouldn’t want him for more than low 20s and even then I probably prefer him at 16-18m max .

Coby is good enough to start, but would be a super-elite 6th man. The Den deal is a bit interesting-not sure how good Holmes projects to be. MAYBE the Bulls take Holmes/Nnaji plus future swaps?
I also hope that, with the market for his type being down, the Bulls can sign him "cheaply"
If I were him, I might consider the Bulls extension offer. Sure, it's "low" but it's still over $80 million guaranteed and the last year could be a PO. I know he likes being in Chicago

The issue isn’t Coby now, it’s Coby later. He probably sees himself in the same light as Quickly/Herro and other overpaid one dimensional combo guards.
It was reported that he was looking for 40AAV which is probably the main reason he hasn’t been traded yet because no team would willingly trade for him to just hand over $120-$160M contract.
I also think Chicago mis-managed this entire situation, similar to Lavine/Derozan/Vucevic etc. They will be lucky to get a pair of SRP’s at this point. They should have moved him when his value was the highest, but opted to continue to hold out for a better offer.
They got greedy and now will be forced to resign and try to move later or move for pennies to the dollar to a contending team just looking for a half a season rental.

Sadly, you're probably right. I wanted to trade him last June when his value was very high (2nd in Most Improved/2 cheap years left).
Again, I like Coby but not at 30+ million. At least Chi is playing hardball with Giddey and might do the same with Coby. If we had Coby/Giddey at around $50 million for both we could build a good team, since Noa/Matas will be cheap for a while

IQ was a good defender in New York and i expect him to be better next year in that regard when we arent actively tanking/rolling out half the lineup only. Also improved his playmaking (3:1 ast% to TO%).
Herro wasnt overpaid for his production last year. He scored 24/5/5 on 60% TS. His offense more than compensated for his weak defense. 3.1 BPM.
