Nets/Raptors/Suns/Jazz

Ill offer this idea for:
-Nets replace Cam Thomas with a bigger guard in his mid 20s making sub $28 million/year with 2 years left
-Raptors free up minutes for recent 1st round picks in order to facilitate greater growth from Dick and Walter while getting out of tax
-Suns get out of tax
-Jazz get a starting calibre SG in Allen

To Brooklyn (Trade Mann, 2nds)
-RJ Barrett (2 years, $57.3 million)

To Toronto (Trade Barrett, 2nd)
-Kyle Anderson (2 years, $18.9 million)
-2027 Minnesota 1st round pick via Utah

To Phoenix (Trade Allen)
-Terrence Mann (3 years, $47 million)
-Atlanta 2026 2nd round pick via Brooklyn
-Atlanta 2028 2nd round pick via Brooklyn

To Utah (Trade Anderson, 1st)
-Grayson Allen (3 years, $54.4 million)
-2026 Lakers 2nd round pick via Toronto

Why?
-Brooklyn leverages cap space and has appetite for Barretts contract/size compared to Cam Thomas.

Demin/Traore/Saraf
Barrett/Whitehead/Johnson
Porter Jr./Powell/Highsmith/Martin
Clowney/Wolf/Wilson
Claxton/Sharpe

-Toronto lets Dick and Walter compete for minutes at the 2 while Anderson provides minutes at the 4 while Boyles develops. The Raptors get under the cap and can spend exemption money on a backup PG (Westbrook?, Brogdon?, Delon Wright?)

Quickley/FA?/Shead
Dick/Walter/Temple
Ingram/Agbaji/Lawson
Barnes/Anderson/Boyles
Poeltl/Mogbo/Mamuke

-Phoenix swaps Allen for Mann to get under tax and picks up further pipeline of cheap depth in 2 2nds.

Booker/Goodwin/Gillespie
Green/Mann/
Brooks/Dunn/
O'Neale/Hayes-Davis/Fleming
Willams/Richards/Maluach/Ighodaro

-Utah adds a starting calibre SG in Allen to provide needed outside shooting

Clayton Jr./Collier/FA?
Allen/Williams/George
Bailey/Sensabaugh/Mykhaliuk
Markannen/Niang/Hendricks
Kessler/Nurkic/Love

Yeah, we're not giving up a first round pick for Grayson Allen, we have enough guys in the backcourt.......

I wouldn't take Allen for free.

Broader comment, Toronto is stealing value here. They are not going to return an asset AND reduce their owed salaries. I am not convinced that they can even return an asset at all for RJ unless they take a worse contract. Starting from there you can identify value getting taken from each team.

Utah takes on Allen's contract and pays a first - no, we don't need him, and he only makes sense for teams with similarly paid players who need positional swaps. We do not.

Brooklyn - taking on RJ's larger deal and sending an asset. Seems like a no go, and just a horrible team to force fans to watch.

Seems fine for Phoenix since they have so many guards, not sure they are owed 2nds.

Maybe there is something direct between Phoenix and Brooklyn that cuts the RJ stuff out.

Sure, over valuing Barrett and Allen based on tax savings their teams get. Could be adjusted to:

To Brooklyn (Trade Mann, 2nds)
-RJ Barrett (2 years, $57.3 million)

To Toronto (Trade Barrett)
-Kyle Anderson (2 years, $18.9 million)
-2026 Atlanta 2nd round pick via Brooklyn

To Phoenix (Trade Allen)
-Terrence Mann (3 years, $47 million)
-Atlanta 2028 2nd round pick via Brooklyn

To Utah (Trade Anderson)
-Grayson Allen (3 years, $54.4 million)

Value is better here. I do not see Utah being interested without compensation and Allen is good enough it shouldnt be needed, so a different team probably needs to be here, or someone who wpuld add an asset to turn a different expiring player into Allen (a second or two).

Raps don't need another 4. If they are moving RJ they likely get a backup C or PG back.

OP is missing Battle in the Raps depth chart.

This does not help the Nets in anyway.

They can sign Cam Thomas to $28 a year now. He is younger and much better than RJ.

The options Cam Thomas has is the QO for 5.99M or likely a 2yr $15-18M per year deal. Maybe $20M per for 2 (40M) or $22 per for 3 (66M).

That is the predicament. RJ is not a better shooter. He makes a ton and is well overpaid. The Nets would rather just stay with Cam.

The idea is with the savings Raps acquire, they use exemption money to sign a backup PG infront of Shead on a 1 year deal and waive Battle.

Utah passed unless they are getting assets. Utah isn’t taking on salary or adding role players to increase their win percentage for 2-4 years depending on how good Ace is and who the Jazz get in the next draft.

But that's dumb.

Raps trade a 25 year old 20 point guy and waive a 6'7 SF who just shot 40.5% as a rookie, for a 31 year old PF who plays ahead of their top 10 pick and the possibility of adding a 30+ year old backup PG to play ahead of a 23 year old rookie....just to save some money and a 2nd?

Naw...Raps easily pass here. All this deal does is make the Raps older and blocks multiple young guys, or loses them completely and makes the team worse.
