Why?
Cavs do this to give Mobley the keys. We get an insane package.
Nets get a superstar.
Bulls get a nice package and unload Williams.

Coby White agrees to his max eligible extension as part of the trade.

The Nets don’t do this, if they want Mitchell he’s the “free piece” they get in free agency once Mitchell’s contract is up.

It’s also directionally wrong for the Cavs, but it is an absurd amount of value.

5 firsts and 12 seconds for anybody is where this falls apart.

I don't see the Bulls wanting to bother with this. They like Coby White, the odds have to be 80-20 that they want to resign him. OK they don't want to "unload" Patrick William that bad, So he hasn't developed into the player they thought he might become, he's not a complete bust, he's not a selfish clown on the floor, he's not a problem in the locker room, he's isn't a problem off the court but people who want to give him a shot on their team make him out to be a potential criminal, meathead malcontent.

Then Terrance Mann is a 29 year old journeyman with a long contract who has averaged 10ppg once in his career. Sharpe has run dry on potential and has started 14 games in 4 NBA seasons

This does nothing for BRK in the short term...Mitchell (or someone like him) should be one of the finishing pieces - not the only good player on the roster. He'll spend every waking hour planning his escape. CLE gets much worse and having a bucket of picks is nice, but what's the chance you're drafting or even trading for another superstar like Mitchell? If anything, move Garland for a better, bigger 3&D guy and some picks (obviously not a Mitchell haul, but Garland is a fraction of Mitchell and you (maybe) don't need two). CHI would be better served by trying to keep Coby or just getting what you can in draft equity...but this collection of nothing doesn't help them.

Nobody wins.

I don't understand why some posters believe they can spam a trade into existence. This isn't something the Cavs are going to do this season. They're the presumptive favorites in the East. Sit back and enjoy the show.

Also, why would a team want 12 second round picks? This isn't MLB with three separate leagues in the minors.

The Nets wouldn't do this now. They would need to pair Mitchell with another player of his caliber. The Cavs are trying to contend for another year. Mitchell is not worth 17 picks.

No one is arguing the Nets would do this, except I guess the OP.

More 2nds makes it easier to throw in sweeteners when you need to make a trade for good fit. You can burn through 12 of them over the course of 6 years. You just have to act like the Phoenix Suns.

But who trades their best player (who doesn't want to leave), closes their own contending window (at least temporarily), but still stays above the 2nd apron and takes back a player (White) who's going to ask for a raise?

Agree...they need to nail at least one high pick before this kind of move (preferably 2).

Would rather just let Coby expire than take this if we can't extend him at a good price.
