Current offer is supposedly Monk and a protected 1st, with GS saying that isn't enough. So instead we just get Monk? Not sure how that works.

Charlotte shouldn't have any interest in overpaying Kuminga like that.

I don’t see CLT wanting Kuminga when they have Miller and Bridges. So just feel like it’s pretty bad for them..
I don’t see how trading Monk causes a tank in Sac? They will still be a play-in team with/without him.. But I feel like they might consider the OP honestly.. the Miami first has a decent chance of conveying as a late lottery pick in 2028..
I could see
Gafford to CLT
Grant Williams, Caleb Martin, Orl first to Sac
Monk to Dallas
Which gives Sac some level of forward depth whenever they get healthy..

Pretty much this. Miles Bridges is way, way better and costs less. Brandon Miller is a much better 3pt shooter. Kuminga isn't cracking our starting lineup.
None of Kuminga's numbers really jump out at me. 15 pts, 4.5 reb, 2.2 ast and 1.5 turnovers. Below leage average true shooting percentage. 67% from the ft line. Oh, and he can't crack his teams rotation in the playoffs.
I would give him like 12 mil per year. He turned down 2/45 because he wants a longer contract and a player option, lol.
I'm going to have to pass.

Nah I'm good. Bridges already pretty much has the exact same strengths and weaknesses as a player. We don't need a second one. My price would be Salaun, Green, and one of the crappy 1sts we got from the Suns in our various trades. And I wouldn't exceed $20M a year.
And I know neither our trade offer or contract offer gets it done so I'm out.

It gets worse. The Warriors would also have to trade Moody to make it work under the CBA. So they trade Kuminga to downgrade Moody to Monk.

Nothing against Green individually, but I just feel in my bones that he's the type of reliabl(y bad) "hard working" vet that Kerr would play 25 minutes a night at the expense of better players

Is that really a downgrade?
Neither is anything special.

Steve Kerr cares about this thing called “defense” that Moses does very well. Monk hasn’t heard of it. So, yes, it’s a downgrade.

That d better be great when he’s pumping out 8 ppg.

There's almost no precedence for a guy showing so little in his first 4 years becoming a really good player. There are exceptions to this rule like JO, but those exceptions have pretty good reasons behind them (e.g. the Blazers were absolutely stacked with good vets, which prevented JO getting any burn). Those reasons don't really apply to Kuminga, who has been given plenty of chances.

Moody scores about 16 points per 36 minutes on 58% true shooting.
Monk scores about 20 points per 36 minutes on 55% true shooting.
So, Monk scores a little more (not dramatically), but it’s less efficient, which wouldn’t fly on a team that’s got far more efficient players than him.
Moody’s relatively low scoring is more of a matter of who he’s surrounded by on the court, and how challenged he’s been getting consistent minutes with the Warriors’ roster, than an inability to score.

I think Kerr is smarter than Charles Lee and would quickly realize that even his defense is kinda mediocre, but yes this is one of the reasons I want Green gone at all costs even if he should be buried on the depth chart lol

Miles Bridges AND Kuminga on the same team would be a disasterclass, so no thanks

GSW offer to Kuminga is reportedly 2 years, $45M. Bridges has two years, $47.8M on his deal.
Feels like they're comparable players. If GSW wants Kuminga back at that number but he won't take it, would they offer up any incentive to get Bridges for similar? For CHA, in exchange for facilitating by paying Kuminga, they could recoup that incentive value and turn Bridges into a similarly priced and comparable player 5 years younger.
My guess is GSW doesn't actually value having a guy like that at that number though to pay CHA enough to make it worth while to pay Kuminga what he wants. But I think that's more the path than the OP.

Because of the BYC it couldn't be a 1:1 swap. That being said, I don't really have any interest in Bridges (Miles, at least) and wouldn't add much beyond some nominal 2nds or cash to make the deal happen.

I would hope Dallas could at least extract a 2nd from Cha here. Monk is flawed, and we see the market for his archetype is not high, Gaff is as good of a backup five as a team can ask for and way better than any option the Hornets currently have.

The guys that come to mind for me were Dale Ellis and Detlef Schrempf who were buried on the Mavs bench (Ellis broke through in his 4th year, Schrempf in his 5th). Today players are coming into the NBA much younger so it's more likely plus Kuminga did average over 15ppg and roughly 30 pp/100 possessions the last two years.
Am I a big fan? Not particularly as I want someone to play better team defense and pass more on offense or be really really efficient. But, it's not like he has shown nothing the last two years if you value scoring.
