Giddey S&T to Blazers

This assumes Chi/Josh can't reach an agreement
I tried a deal with the Wiz-where I think Giddey would fit well as their lead ball handler
I think Port is another option since they seem to want to make the playoffs
Giddey for Scoot, plus Chi sends the Port pick back. The Bulls have a TPE and Port has expiring deals, to make the BYC $ work (not sure exactly how that works).
Bulls add Henderson to Matas and Noa. They trade White as well and start over around those 3, plus a top 7 pick in 2026 and A TON of future cap space.
Port adds an interesting piece to their young core. Sharpe can be the 3rd guard, but can get 30 min/night behind Giddey and Holiday. With Deni/Camara/Clingan up front they'd be a huge team and could play fast. Plus, they get their pick back, which opens up more options for trades

What are the Bulls doing? Looking at their salaries it appears they're about to lose quite a few good pieces and then they have that head-scratching Patrick Williams deal.
Anyway I don't know about this trade, but I don't think they should throw a pick in. Henderson still has a lot to prove.

I don't see the logic for Portland.

Giddey's better than Scoot right now and it's far from certain that Scoot ever becomes that good. Giddey's still pretty young so it's not like it's just a short-term patch.

Giddey is also going to be expensive, and the Blazers don't need even higher payroll on a team that's going nowhere.
Giddey isn't good. His ideal role is to put up numbers on a 38-42 win team, and sell fans false hope. Scoot might not be good either, but at least that possibility still exists.

This is a really bad idea for the Bulls. This might save Cronin's job when the team is sold. Then again, it might further underscore how stupid trading for Jrue and then signing Dame to the MLE was.

I kinda like this for both teams. Next offseason the Blazers probably have to move Jrue again, however.

They do have a lot of expiring contracts but they aren't really wanting to let all of them go and start a rebuild. Those UFA are split between having been here and should expect to leave and some that the Bulls want to keep as part of the rotation going forward.
then
Giddey could be a good PG but the Blazers have Holiday signed long term, with Lillard eventually coming back, Giddey isn't enough of an off the ball shooter to take time at the SG where they've got Sharpe still. Scoot is ahead on upside but he doesn't seem to be any more or better a PG than Coby White was and he hasn't shown to be the shooter either. Does Scoot instantly start with White, Jones, Huerter, Dosunmu already in place and what's his attitude if he doesn't?
I'd say the Bulls need more based on their taking a gamble that Scoot takes the step and a half UP, and they're clearing some of the Blazer's past. Yeah they save some money but they aren't on a 5 year plan loaded with extra picks. Now let's see PORT eliminate the protection on that pick the Bulls have and maybe it looks better

That suddenly swung in the opposite direction. Bulls get the pick unprotected now? Absolutely no way. In a situation where the Bulls don’t want to overpay Giddey and choose to sign and trade to get something rather than nothing, they don’t land Scoot plus a potential lottery pick.

Love this for PDX but I am a Giddey > Scoot guy.
Love the idea of running a team with Camara guarding the PG spot and Josh running the point.
Defense
G - Camara
G - Sharpe
F - Giddey
F - Deni
C - Clingan
Offense
G - Giddey
G - Sharpe
F - Camara
F - Deni
C - Clingan
Overall
G - Giddey / Holiday
G - Sharpe / Holiday / MT
F - Camara / Grant / MT
F - Deni / Grant / Kris
C - Clingan / RWIII / Yang / Reath

At some point Jrue will move himself to retirement. That might be next season.

I dont know about that. Holiday can play SG and has been off ball a ton in his career. Additionally, Dame when he comes back ideally wont be on ball as much but more of a shooter (IE the Klay path - but to a lesser extent).
Josh instead of Scoot actually balances the roster much more with Jrue and Dame on the team. With Dame back they could run -
G - Damian Lillard (24) / Jrue Holiday (24)
G - Shadeon Sharpe (30) / Toumani Camara (18)
F - Josh Giddey (32) / Toumani Camara (12) / Jerami Grant (4)
F - Deni Avdija (32) / Jerami Grant (16)
With Scoot rather than Josh your playing small a TON more.

I would not do it if I am Portland. They are building a defensive team - and JG is not that. Scoot is going to be good, I am pretty certain of it. It was not the immediate translation the Blazers were hoping for, but I still believe in Scoot - and he is a willing defender and can become really good on that side.

Not before he gets all the money owed him on his deal.

I have giddey over scoot by a pretty large margin, pretty sure the blazers should be adding value here not the bulls. Giddey is the larger, more efficient shooter, with better passing and rebounding and has a much better defensive rating. Overall Giddey is a better player.
If the bulls did this it would be to kick the can a year down the road when suddenly Scoot is asking for 25-30 million as well. Maybe since he isn't as good maybe they get him for sub 20 million.

I like it a lot for the Blazers. Pick is going the wrong way and the money doesn’t work.
For the Bulls it isn’t enough value. They would be better off seeing if Giddey can continue to play well and maybe return a bigger haul.

Jrue is not walking away from the money owed to him. That's crazy talk.
