Blockbuster 3-Team Trade

Detroit Pistons get:
Zion Williamson

New Orleans Pelicans get:
Lauri Markkanen

Utah Jazz get:
Tobias Harris
Ronald Holland II

-Pistons take a chance on Zion and potentially land a legitimate co-star for Cade without breaking the bank.

-Pelicans get taller up front and Lauri can help spread the floor a bit while deciding to pivot off of the Zion era.

-Jazz save money both up front and long-term while adding a solid prospect with high-end potential.

Trade fails under spotrac, tried it didn't work

That said

Utah will want picks as will Pistons for taking on Zion

I don't think Zion not a good fit for Pistons either and doubt any team willing to risk it for Zion?

Hard pass. Not fixable. Zion just isn’t worth the headache.

Yeah, makes no sense for the pelicans to trade Zion today, his value is terrible, his off court issues are still a thing right? is he still being investigated?

Terrible for the Jazz and bad for the Pistons.

Before summer league, I would have been open to moving Holland, as him, and Ausar both are excellent defenders, and huge energy guys, without a shot.

If there is one thing that translates from SL, to the real deal, its shooting. Holland being able to shoot, opens up the possibility of him being an all-star, and and allows him to be on the floor with Ausar, creating an insane defensive SF/PF starting duo with him and Ausar.

No deal. Shooting coach has done wonders with Hollands form.

I believe in Holland as well and have no interest in trading him. That said, the OP here boggles my mind in general. If the Pistons have the assets the Jazz want for Lauri, why would we trade for Zion? Why wouldn't we just cut the Pelicans out of this completely and trade for Lauri, who's a better fit for us anyway? (The money works if we throw Sasser in).

I wouldn't do that anyway, because Holland is a lot more affordable and I believe in his development, but I'd do it *way* before I'd trade for Zion.

I don't really like it for any of the teams involved, but if the Jazz were prepared to sell low on Lauri, the Pistons should cut out the Pelicans and take him.

I think Detroit should cut out NOP and take the safer piece next to Cade.

And I honestly think Utah should cut out Det and try to tank a year with Zion?

But the money needs work.

And NOP has traded their first unprotected this year. So tough to see it.

Holland is young and has Star potential. Tobias has been a great vet leader and has really helped turn around the Pistons. I’d hate to trade either of them, but I understand you have to give to get. And Pistons need a long term solution at PF.

I’d rather they use LaVert and Duncan Robinson for salary filler and then throw in whatever draft capital needed to get either Lauri or Zion.

If this is what it takes to get Lauri, and you don't like Holland as Detroit, then they'd rather cut out the Pelicans and just take Lauri for themselves.

All these Holland++ for overpaid vets are gonna look really silly 2 years from now. Luckily our GM preaches patience and probably won’t trade his first ever draft pick.

I don’t mind trading draft picks, but couldn’t agree more about Holland. He’s so young, great attitude and athleticism, and seems to have improved over the summer. Better to trade these guys too late than too early.

Investigated for what? Being overweight is not a crime.

Utah say no. They don't have any urgent need to trade Lauri on the cheap as he doesn't impede their tank and they have the cap space.

Not sure why Utah would do this. Pass.
