Celtics get a center for this year rotation, whom will be a 12M expiring next year. They take a flyer on GG Jackson who is cheap, and Konchar will be an expiring next year too at 6M. This year they are 67k below the tax according to fanspo.

Memphis traded Bane away and get a SG that can score to load up the guard rotation, which seems smart considering Ja Morant not so frequent availability. At worst they clear 30M from the books next offseason when Simons expire and have an expiring KCP at 20M too.
Memphis get really deep, important considering their injuries.

GG is probably a positive asset so I think the Celtics might owe a 2nd, but they are taking on more total money so maybe not.
Yes the Cs get under the tax this year but go back over next year in this scenario. Idk that I love it for either team.
It might be worth exploring though.

This is an interesting idea but it has a problem; it does not get Boston under the tax. Fanspo has the wrong cap figure for Derrick White that is about $2million under his actual cap figure.

Secondarily, I don't think GG Jackson is a Brad Stevens type of guy. If you take GG out, it still doesn't get Boston under the tax. They'd have to have a second deal to move Konchar or Clarke.

I also think, if you take out GG, then this is the type of trade where Boston thinks they should get a couple of 2nds and Memphis also probably thinks they should get a couple of seconds... And without GG, I think the trade math fails because Memphis is taking too much back ...

so several problems here, honestly

edit: I just checked, Fanspo has updated Derrick White's contract figure with the correct info. However, they have not included Hugo Gonzalez on the Celtics roster so they are not accounting for Hugo's $2.8 million salary for next year, so the OP's trade still does not get Boston under the tax

Simons really doesn't make sense for Memphis with Jerome here now as our 6th man. Simons would be a terrible pairing with Ja. So unless Memphis really wants off of money next year and is down on GG I don't see this as interesting for us.

For Boston I would want to save more money and less future money, there has to be a team for Simons that will give Boston more of the things they need.

GG really looked like a steal his rookie year. Then he got hurt and went sideways. But I saw GG in summer league a month ago and he just made several boneheaded plays and really didn't stand out against that level of competition, in the game I saw.

Is Memphis still high on GG???

Grizz not interested, Simons does not fit not to mention Ty Jerome fills the same role of 6th man big scoring combo guard. GG will get his opportunity this season but this may be his final shot. BC is a culture guy and still highly effective when paired with Jaren.

GG showed flashes of improvements in post defence. I wouldn’t be surprised if they changed their minds and decided to build him as a Wiggins type of 3/4&D rather than all-around player, given his lack of court vision and handling skills The chances are certainly higher. They also brought Prosper for the sake of competition.

High, no likely not. Would have taken a good 1st after his rookie year. However now we would likely take less if we needed to trade him for some reason. As of right now I see no motivating factors that would push us toward that decision unless someone really wants to overpay. GG will be given the chance to earn minutes and a bigger role this year, there is a good chance he doesn't earn a big role with us but there is still a chance and the opportunity cost of giving him that chance is very low since I don't see teams offer much more than some 2nds for him at this point in time.

This trade really doesn't solve any issues we currently have though. Clarke is going to start the year as a starter or at least a 25+ minute guy for us and has always been a positive impact player for us. Of course he never broke out like we had hope since his shot never developed, but the fact remains that he is a rotation level frontcourt player that we have no urgency to move on from. Once at full health he likely will see a decreased role for us but we still be part of our deeper rotation and next year as an expiring his contract will likely have more utility in trades that what ever apron room would if he wasn't on our roster. Kochar is likely someone we wouldn't mind moving on from now, not because he is a bad player, just our depth will likely leave him out of the rotation when healthy and we could use that money better next year. If we had not signed Jerome and not facing frontcourt depth issues then Simons could have been a viable trade target as a expiring expensive 6th man.

So likely a pick around 24-28 would be my guess. I wouldn't say that would be the type of overpayment that be an immediate acceptance but likely enough for us to consider it. If I was running the ship I would likely take it after a long deliberation. Right now with with the void from trading Bane we are going to have the opportunity for a few players to get a chance to step into a bigger roles. I think most fans think in time our 1st rounder Coward will have the best chance to seize a big role, but after him GG Jackson still has the highest upside on our roster. We have to weigh that against the fact that we have a crowded roster at full health and odds are GG unless he steps up his game could find himself in a smaller role and his trade value likely continues to erode.

i ask because GG would likely get 25-30 minutes a game in Charlotte and fill a pretty gigantic hole in our frontcourt rotation if he's closer to his rookie form than last season's sophomore slump. The pick I mentioned is probably my slightly generous offer.
