What's the hold up on the Wiggins to Lakers trade?

Post#1 » by SlimShady83 » Tue Sep 16, 2025 4:26 am

Seems to be heating up at least from what I'm hearing on youtube, rumors etc

I'm guessing Heat want FRP or SRP And Lakers for good reason not willing to do that?

Kleber/Gabe/Knecht maybe and I state maybe SRP, def not worth a FRP

For

Wiggins should be ok?

Lakers need wings
Not sure why Heat are in this, maybe they don't want to pay Wiggins?

Lakers want another nico special.

Miami got a nico special in the trade for Powell, so now an opportunity to do some damage in the East has presented itself.

Although, that doesn't mean a deal can't happen at the trade deadline.

There is no deal to be had IMO...
Before, Heat needed offensive punch, so Wiggins for Hachimura made sense, after the Normam Powell deal, I think the Heat will keep Wiggins and see what they have.

If Wiggins is dealt I expect it to be during the season, I think the Heat can get more that way. And I agree with Mavrelous, the Heat might as well take a look w/ Powell first.

I'd be ok giving up Rui+ for a Wiggins, but shouldn't include any draft capital, if it's for what I said above; Kleber/Gabe/Knecht then yes some sort of draft capital should be involved.

Why don't the Heat trade the better player with little to no incentive? That's a real head scratcher.

I don't know who Keshad is, but even saying that, I'm not willing to give up Vando just yet my man, let's see how he goes with a full healthy offseason first :) if he get injured again, maybe next offseason?

Another reason i think this doesn't get done anytime soon is that I think the team and fans/media view wiggins differently.

Spo and Riley like wiggins and what he gives them which is exactly the same things the lakers want and need.

Fans and media largely see him as a disappointment compared to to his draft status.

IMO, both organizations value him enough to make a trade difficult.

In terms of real reports, we’ve read that LA has interest in acquiring multi year deals now that Luka has extended, and Wiggins is one target, but we haven’t heard specifically that there’s a deal to be negotiated between LA and Miami.

"Don't rush to failure" comes to mind. Wait for Miami's price to go down instead of bidding against yourself...

Wiggins is a good player on a fair contract, why is Miami looking to give him up for LA's cast offs without a first or some equivalent incentive (which is not Knecht FTR)

This needs a third team with LAL and Miami paying for Miami to get an upgrade to Wiggins. Or LAL just needs to actually pay to have a conversation at least..

Or Miami just keep Wiggins, who imo is a really good fit with what they’re doing. Even if they do need a star, Wiggins is a nice placeholder.
