Bucks - Raptors

RJBarret x K.Kuzma + A.Jackson/T.Smith + future FPR lottery protected

why for Raptors
they have too much player in back court: Quicley, Shaed, Dick, -Barrett-, Walter, Agbaji, Roddy
they have Ingram and and Barnes at SFn and in addition Rossy, Murray-Boyles, Battle
they can't re-sign Barrett after this contract because they already have a lot of cap invested on Barnes, Ingram, Quickley, so the can trade Barrett to invest in other role, and take a FRP

why for Bucks
Kuzma is out of project
Barrett is better than anyone other of thier backcourt

RAPTORS
Dick, Ingram, Barnes, Kuzma, Poetl
Quickley, Walter, Shaed, Agbaji, Battle, Murray-Boyles, Mogbo, Mamukelashvili

BUCKS
ColeAnthony, Barrett, Prince, Giannis, Turner
Rollins, K.PorterJr, G.TrentJr, AJGreen, Coffey, Portis

RJ might be better than Kuzma, but I wouldn't give up a first round pick and take on his salary hoping it made any kind of real difference.

I think Bucks can look into getting a better fit if they are using a FRP to improve the roster. I also think that Kuzma fit in the Raptors is terrible.
Bucks could use Barrett, sure, I do think the team is better after this trade, I will give you that

Kuzma is so bad and East is wide open enough this year that it might make a difference between a first round exit vs deeper run. A lottery protected first in 2031 isnt worth very much either. Solid chance it wont convey if Giannis is post prime/goes elsewhere.

I would pass for raptors since we are trying to win this year

Bucks assets are to limited, they aren’t trading a FRP for non-needle mover in Barrett with a way worse contract.

Does Kuzma fit anywhere?

Kuzma's contract is worse imo. Barrett was a positive impact player despite being surrounded by g league players. still overpaid but at least he contributes to winning unlike kuzma

he would be a good tank commander for Utah or Brooklyn

Maybe, but no one will take him for free MIL has almost nothing to trade.

Is he actually a positive impact player tho? Kuzma put up stats on a bad team too before being traded. I think Barrett is closer to Kuzma than he is a core player on team trying to contend.

kuzma put up counting stats, i was referring to bpm/epm and on-off +/-, of which kuzma was negative past 2 years and barrett was positive last year and a half while as a raptor

I think that both teams should pass here.

Toronto doesn’t save enough money for this to be a good financial-motivated move. So the asset should be a bit better.

Milwaukee doesn’t get a good enough player to justify losing the ability to trade the 2031 first for a better player.

I'm a bit surprised by the anti-Barrett reaction. I think Barrett is a pretty useful 2 way wing, and I think it was arguably the best player on the Raptors last year. He's not a good shooter, but he shoots enough to get guarded (5-6 3PA per 36 at 35-36% is adequate). Sure he's overpaid but he's still useful.

Whereas, I don't think Kuzma is an NBA player anymore. There's this idea that "if he could just get back to be a 3&D forward like he was on the Lakers" but that was a half decade ago and even then he was like the 8th man on that lakers team.

I don't get the direction for Toronto at all. RJ isn't great but he's better than Kuzma. Kuzma is a great tank commander like he puts up empty stats on bad teams and when you look at his numbers especially the advanced metrics from afar they are good but he's far from good. I hate the fit here as well, CMB, Barnes Ingram and Mogbo are all guys Toronto should prioritize giving minutes to. Andre Jackson Jr has defensive potential but Toronto has enough guards who can't shoot we don't need more. Right now Jackson Jr can't create his own offense and shouldn't be viewed as anything more than a depth piece. Tyler Smith looks interesting as a prospect but he's extremely raw, the pick is so far off I can't see it convaying as Giannis is going into his age 36 season and who knows what Milwaukee will be then and if he sticks it out.

Ugh, Kuzma is just an awful player. I want no part in this.

What advanced metrics are good for Kuzma? IF you just look at counting numbers (raw PPG/RPG/APG) from his Wizard years you might think the numbers are good but add in efficiency and defensive stats and his profile goes South fast.

RJ just isn't very valuable. I doubt he can even return this.

Nobody claimed he is (very valuable). Kuzma is just way worse

too much messages are talking about "Barrett is better than Kuzma"
this is the base for the trade hypotesis

in fact the idea is that Bucks send a FRP (in addition to Kuzma and Jackson) to the Raptors
the FRP is 2031 when probably Bucks will not be a playoff team
