Best Young Players For Knicks Vets

Post#1 » by NYG » Sun Oct 12, 2025 2:33 pm

If the Knicks wanted to pursue a star but the other team preferred young talent, who would be the individual best young player the Knicks could get for:

Karl-Anthony Towns
OG Anunoby
Mikal Bridges
Josh Hart
Mitchell Robinson

What would be the filler to make it work cap wise?

I feel like Portland could be a good fit for some of these names. Sacramento too?

I like the call of Sacramento. They feel like a team that would overpay for OG - something like DeRozan (expiring) + Murray + 2027 SAC 1st.

For KAT, maybe New Orleans? Poole + Queen + 2027 MIL/NOP 1st (more favorable) + ???

Would the Kings do Hart and OG for DDR, Monk and Murray?

Would that plus the MIL/NOP 1st for Giannis get the Knicks any closer?

Why would the Knicks do any of this?!! How does this improve our team? I'd much rather have KAT (an NBA all-star who was our best scorer and arguably our best rebounder last season), Hart (last season in many ways the gritty heart of the team) and OG (often our top defender and sometimes our top scorer too) over that collection of fringe starters and decent bench players.

And while Giannis is a top-3 player in the NBA today, we're not gutting the current team for him (or he'd likely be on the Knicks' roster now). And seriously, if we can't get Giannis with KAT plus likely one of Hart/OG plus all our picks on the table because the Bucks want more, we're not getting the Bucks to change their minds by substituting them with DDR, Queen, Monk, Murray, etc.--likely, at least ten teams out there will beat this pathetic offer (even assuming Giannis doesn't reject the trade outright because that remaining Knicks roster would absolutely suck even with him).
RIP magnumt--you're literally why I'm still here on these boards.
RIP The Hater--keep up the good fight in the great beyond.
