So based on some threads around here:

Lakers trade:
Rui Hachimura
Gabe Vincent
Knecht

Lakers get:
Monk
Jevon Carter
Jalen Smith

Kings trade:
Monk

Kings get:
Rui Hachimura

Bulls trade:
Jalen Smith
Jevon Carter

Bulls get:
Gabe Vincent
Knecht

Why:
Kings trade a surplus in guards to land a PF with size that can shoot and can hold his own on defense.
Lakers get Monk for a scoring punch(4th best scorer on the team?) and get Smith to cover for the size they lose trading Rui. Carter is Gabe but cheaper just for making money work
Bulls trade their third Center and Carter to land Knecht as a prospect

This should be broken down into 2 separate trades.

1- Rui does more for the Lakers than Monk. No deal for LA.

2- If Bulls like Knecht and Gabe, Lakers counter with Knecht, Vincent (or Kleber) for Smith, Ayo

The first trade is good for Sacramento. IMO Rui is more valuable on-court and has a better contract than Monk.

The second trade is good for the Lakers. IMO the only player in the deal with any value is Smith. Clearly not a lot of value but more than what their getting.

If the Lakers are interested in the net deal then perhaps Sacramento could send something to Chicago (a 2nd or two).

Nobody likes Gabe, he's included as negative value to balance out the fact the Lakers are getting Carter's worthless deal. The Bulls easily decline your revised deal, Ayo is more valuable than everyone else in it together.

Being a PG sized SG really hurts Monk's value. His box-score stats may look like a solid starter but he can only work as a starter next to a wing-sized PG - and even then you're giving up the possible defensive advantage of a big lineup. I think Monk is moderately overpaid and thus the extra year hurts his value. Rui is about worth his contract so extra year(s) or not doesn't really change things.

Smith makes sense for the Lakers to get a solid backup center on a good backup center contract - right now they're probably looking at Rui essentially being the backup center - in that role Smith is an upgrade. I don't think the Bulls value Smith that much, but they wouldn't care at all about Knecht or bench EC filler (Vincent, Klieber, etc.). Does Sacramento add a 2nd to balance their roster (and they've been looking to move Monk all summer)? Is a Kings 2nd enough for the Bulls to move Smith? Seems at least possible.

For the Lakers Monk is questionable - he does reasonably fit the Lakers but isn't ideal and they seem to want to do cap space plans next summer.

Yeah, monk has clear faults, which makes sense why he has been a backup and earns 15M only per. I think Jalen Smith is expendable for the bulls being their third center, and they dont have solid floor spacers in the team, Knecht at least should be that 3 point threat. Seems like a moderate bet that balances the roster a little.

In this trade, I'm sure Kings are willing to send a second rounder, solves their PF issue, even if Rui is expiring, having a more rounded roster should give them a better idea on what they have, with Keegan at SF full time and Rui spacing the floor giving more space for Sabonis to operate and having a look at how the team operate with Dennis at PG.

Bulls are not trading Ayo to create the biggest logjam at PF ever with Pat Williams, Rui, Matas, Noa, Julian Phillips and Dallen Terry. Ayo alone is worth more than Rui

The original trade is not for the Bulls. They swap Carter for Vincent both are at the end of the bench the only difference is Vincent makes more money for his one year. When do they play Knechte behind Giddey, White, Huerter, Jones, Dosunmu none of which need development, they're NBA players.

Rui is expiring and no kid anymore, he sure wouldn't be part of the future with Buzelis improving game by game, Williams signed and (sorry) not garbage, Okoro with another year and Essengue their FRP. For all these Smith trades the Bulls end up with old Vucevic and injury prone Zach Collins, they need that 3rd center.
