Rockets over-reaction trade

Quick overreaction

Reed - the game is still too fast for him.
Eason - playing time limited by Durant/Smith

Use these 2 plus extra pieces (Olivier, DFS, etc..) to get a PG.

Could Garland be available for a package?
Cheap short term rental of Rozier?
Fox when eligible?

Rozier...What year is it?

I think the thing right now is to be patient and see how Amen/Sengun/KD develop chemistry offensively. Defensively, this is going to be the best defensive team in the league.

You offer a package of whatever that gets Rozier off the Heat, they wouldn’t even let Houston finish the sentence before agreeing

I was going to say no, but that was before I realized Terry Rozier was on the table.

So rockets are serious about contending this season I guess? Rozier is what you need.

Was DFS injured? or did they just not need him with all of their other forward options?

Seems like a waste - he's good enough to be a significant rotation guy on a good team (that isn't overloaded at forward) and Houston really needed another guard as a higher priority (even with Van Vleet healthy).

Dosunmu feels pretty ideal as a guy who can just fit in.

Injured but also, know idea where he gets minutes on this team. Think both parties will regret the offseason contract

They need more of a shot-creator/playmaker than another athletic 3 and D type. I think Pritchard, Coby White, and Monk could be targets if Houston has the stomach for it.

Besides not over reacting. if I'm the Rockets, the ideal year long target is Nembhard and hoping Mathurin really performs and makes the possibility of Indy accepting even an overwhelming offer possible.

When I saw the title I assumed that this overreaction would be about moving Thompson, whose broken outside shot was the primary reason why he was had the worst plus-minus on the floor for the Rockets last night. Instead the Jazz will reluctantly accept Eason and Reed for renowned point guard Keyonte George. Houston even saves $12MM in the deal. WIN-WIN! /s

One point loss in OT to the champs definitely calls for Rozier or Simons..

I do think in December, we will see Houston trade for a guard if last night was what Thompson will look like this season. Not Terry Rozier or such, but a guard.

Just think playing against Dort, Caruso, Cason isn’t the best situation for two guys that probably weren’t ready for their roles anyways.. but guess that’s what an over reaction trade is for.

Josh Okogie played over 20 minutes last night what are you talking about

They lost to the defending champs, on the road, in double overtime. I doubt panic is seeping in.

Tari played 22 minutes and would have played more if he wasn't awful, guessing extension drama still on the mind. Reed is a small guard who has barely any NBA experience still, it's gonna take time, they're not panicking

He's losing minutes to Josh Okogie. Can't shoot, can't pass, can't dribble, can't finish. He's looking more like Jared Vanderbilt than an NBA starter.

He lost minutes because he was playing literally the worst game I have ever seen him play in his entire career, not the norm

You can see room for some tweaks for fit but there’s obviously a ton of talent and good coaching in Houston. They looked pretty good last night, it’s KD’s first game with the new team.

I do think they should consider moving some pieces for a PG, not a novel idea.

But I’d pay something to keep Rozier off my team personally.
