Dallas: Gets a more polished center

Cleveland has to see the East as ripe for the picking. No reason to swap Allen for Lively just to get Marshall. Makes no sense for them.

this makes more sense with someone like PJ included instead of Powell. Marshall isn't worth enough to cover the gulf between Lively and Allen

PJ might not be either but at least he's actually good

Now it makes no sense for Dallas. Allen isn't enough of an upgrade to justify 3 key rotation pieces for him.

I just don't think there is a deal here. Not sure Cleveland needs a player like Marshall, but if they do, there are simpler ways to go about it.

This is more a Cleveland fan trying to sell early on Allen in case his underwhelming preseason and first game and end of the Indiana series are indications of slippage.

You can also shift Mobley to C with the starters and unclog the lane, playing Lively in most of the backup C minutes. Great move for Mobley.

The problem is that if Mobley is the C, none of Marshall/Wade/Nance are starter-worthy at PF. You could play Hunter there when Strus gets back and get by, but he's been a weak rebounder/defender at that position. He's a better 3 and might be a better 2 than a 4.

PJ and Lively for Allen and fillers wherever it's needed makes sense if you're trying to get Flagg to play as a forward

The Cavs are over the second apron and the Mavs are close enough to make a deal impossible without a third team taking on money.

Allen completely disappears from the offense without Garland, but I don't know that the solution is to trade Allen when Garland will be back in a couple weeks. Proctor is a rookie and he missed a couple of entry passes when Allen had a smaller guy on him.

It's an 82 game season. The Cavs will get Garland, Hunter, and Strus back. Tyson and Proctor won't be asked to play higher in the depth chart than they should at this point in their careers.

As a Dallas fan that hoped for a tank, I love Kidd/Nico’s vision..

I think Cleveland passes on the OP. And Dallas should pass on adding more. You don’t invest that much into a center when you know AD should play some minutes at center..

I'm going to ignore this, that game had very little to do with size or toughness (Mitchell was the only player under 6'4") and more to do with fundamentals and effort. All of Allen, Mobley, Wade, and Tyson have the size/strength to do better on the boards than they did.
