Ja Morant for Malik Monk, DeMar DeRozan and Lowest of Kings/Spurs/Timberwolves 2031 First Round Draft Pick

Grizzlies get off of Morant for two useful veterans and a future first rounder to pivot to a retool around their core.

Kings get a player with star potential that they only have access to because of his injury/off-court issues and take the flier.

Yikes! That’s tough value. Really have no idea what to expect tho. I think they need one more first but who knows.

We just traded Fox (inefficient, non spacing, average D and questionable motor)

Although with that said, is Ja’s value this low in terms of assets (not that I have serious interest) ? I still think he’d fetch more somewhere

Fox peaked around 3.4 OBPM, weak all-star, Top 40 player.

Ja peaked around 6.2 OBPM, , All-NBA talent, Top 15 player.

You could probably talk Ja's peak to around Top 20 player, which is unquestionably better than Fox's best.

Okay, but Ja is years away from that peak and is an average starter now.

There's also no reason to expect him to improve and you should expect him to keep getting worse.

Monk+DDR+Devin Carter for Ja is the obvious trade here.

I don't think Demar and Malik have much if any value, so you're really just talking about the picks and filler.

Pretty sure that wasn't how Kings fans described Fox when he was on their team.

That's fine. I just think, logically of course, Ja reverting back to his old-self is a much higher ceiling than anything Fox has shown. That's going to be factored into the value of the two.

Sac should not be giving up its own unprotected picks. That should be the line they won’t cross. That leaves the Minny pick/what’s left of the Spurs pick and protected Sac picks (which should not be tied up for to many years).

Selling this "Lowest of Kings/Spurs/Timberwolves 2031 First Round Draft Pick" as an "unprotected" pick may not be false, but it is disingenuous to say the least, that pick has almost no upside and no matter how low Ja's value may be, it won't be that low. I think any offer should probably include either the TWolves 31 and another Kings pick at least, if it's their own 31 (actually worse of Spurs/Kings) then more value should be added. Also this probably includes young players, at least one and probably two out of Devin Carter / Keon Ellis / Nique Clifford. Say something 1/2 unprotected first/s (good ones) + 1/2 young player/s + salary matching, balancing picks and players (not just one pick and one player all of the Kings choice), probably 2 picks + Devin Carter + Keon Ellis + matching salary sounds like an offer decent enough for the Grizzlies to at least pick up the phone and engage in negotiations.

Ja isn't worth anything but the kings are dumb enough to trade 3 first round picks. Sounds about right.

Exactly kings are that dumb. Question is what team would want ja he’s a cancer and a want to be gang banger.

Kyrie was traded for far less than his talent because he came with so much baggage. Dallas might well have been the only suitor.

Not crazy to suggest the same is true with Morant.

I think OP probably is about right on value and about right on team maybe desperate enough.

Ja comes with a lot. Many teams wouldn't take him at all I would think.

If Ja is unhappy because he’s not winning enough, he won’t want to go to Sacramento. But the price is about right, I guess. No one is going to take Ja right now unless they think they’re getting a bargain.

Morant should be worth Monk, DeRozan and 3 #1's but his behavior and problems have caused me to not want to have him on my team.

Even if you ignore all the drama. Ja is an undersized sg who does not shoot well from 3. His career ts% is average and this year it is worse. He is not good on defense.

How does an undersized sg with out a reliable 3pt shot help an nba team win?

He could be the new Monte Ellis!

Im not really interested in Ja, but at this price you have to take the risk.

Of course id prefer to tank but that wont be happening with vivek around. So with that in mind-

Next year lavine is expiring and can hopefully be used to aquire a few useful players with us attaching assets. They also have schroder who id imagine has a few suitors (mavs? Houston?). Carter and saric contracts as well.

Morant/westbrook
Keon/nique
Keegan
?
Sabonis/precious
