Sarr to NOLA

Sarr has been playing great so the timing isn’t great but is there any trade that could net Sarr to New Orleans? Anything on the table other than Fears and Queen. Sarr’s game just looks like a perfect match with Queen and and having a back line with that type of size and athleticism is a perfect compliment to Fears and helps to counteract his lack of size.

Trey could work really well with them long term too but Sarr’s defensive fit makes him a better option. I’d trade him and Zion to start fresh, add Missi if you need a center and give us Kispert and whatever expiring back. It’s selling low on the Pels guys but the fit is worth it.

Start fears poole herb Sarr and Queen, back it up with Jose, Bey, Karlo Looney and hoeofully Peavy. Long term start kispert to add extra shooting. Next year’s pick doesn’t matter if you build a solid foundation that gets fans excited.

I think you start with just Trey and go from there. If both go youd need some stuff other coming back too.

I just don't see any reason for Washington to trade the guy they just picked second who is actually breaking out for an inconsistent wing or an always-injured forward. New Orleans shouldn't send any of their picks, Washington shouldn't just swap Sarr for any of New Orleans' prospects ... I think if they want Sarr it honestly takes both and Washington shouldn't be adding value. It would be Sarr and expirings for Murphy and Zion and I think that is just what it takes to get Washington to think about it and they would still decline. I could obviously be wrong, but that is my feeling on how it would go. TBH, as a fan of a third team, I would take Sarr over both Zion and Murphy, but that could be different if a team were not rebuilding like we are.

Maybe if they had their 2026 FRP. Even then, can't see Washington trading a 2nd overall pick that's figuring things out ahead of schedule.

The idea is fun, but I agree not realistic that Wiz give up Sarr at this stage in their rebuild.

I like Pels targeting Maluach as the frontcourt compliment to Queen, via Zion trade. While not as mobile as Sarr, Maluach would be a fun project rim-protector/lob-threat with elite role potential. Think Suns could go for Zion, Ishbia gonna get the itch again after Jalen Green showed out first game back. We made in another thread:

Suns get: Zion, Hawkins, Matkovic

Pels get: Maluach, Brooks, Allen, 2nds

What.
Sarr having a great year and being Wizards best player should mean he is untouchable. NOLA trading 2 picks for Queen and then trading more value for another center? Making moves hoping these 2 in theory centers sharing the floor seems like a terrible idea(Queen played what 80 minutes at the NBA?)

Trading away Missi, Zion and Trey to get Sarr while not having their own pick this year is also such a terrible idea too

I would take Sarr over either Queen or Fears as well and the Wiz are still tanking at least this year because they lose their pick to NY if they finish too well. So, not likely to be a deal here.

Maybe Missi and Murphy and a future 1st?

I'd at least consider that if I was WSH.

I don’t see the Wiz trading him for stuff NOLA can offer. He is not a future superstar or anything but he is looking like a very solid player they can use as a building block.

I think this will be an easier conversation to have if when he reverts to some less efficient numbers. I see the fit but I don’t think he’s a first or second option. Right now he’s performing like a first or second option so I get why he’d be valued as such.

Yeah, it's a pretty bad idea in principle because Washington is rebuilding and isn't even thinking about trading future talent for win-now talent. And then throw in the fact that Sarr is basically posting All-Star caliber numbers at age 20 and it's a complete non-starter. When has a team ever traded a former top 3 pick, in his second season, while he was playing extremely well and exceeding everyone's expectations? The idea is preposterous.

To put things in perspective:

Image

I'm not saying Sarr is better than Mobley. Mobley has had a slow start and Sarr is probably on a bit of a heater. But the point is, at a moment when Sarr is posting significantly better per-minute stats across the board than a guy like Mobley, while being 4 years younger, you have to understand why he is untouchable from Washington's perspective.

Washington is rebuilding. They spent the #2 overall pick on Sarr and it's looking like that decision is paying off. Why would they move him for anything short of a massive overpay at this point?

Makes no sense for Wash

I would LOVE Murphy in Chi-I'd overpay to put him with Matas at forward

No reason to consider this.

Washington IN: Trey Murphy, Jalen Green, Yves Missi, 3 PHX 2nd round picks

PHX IN: Zion Williamson, Khris Middleton, Jose Alvarado

NOP IN: Alex Sarr, Kaman Malauach, Dillon Brooks, Corey Kispert, Grayson Allen, Justin Champagne
?

I think Sarr alone is worth more than the package New Orleans sends. This is heavily, heavily tilted in favor of the Pelicans.

Wiz forget to hang up the phone because they're laughing so hard.

I am not sure I would trade Sarr for the entire NO roster.

Dude is 20, near 7 feet tall, and posting 54 / 38 / 74 for 19ppg / 8rpg / 4apg in 28mpg. He is showing range, rim protection, unexpected passing abilities and has that elusive switchability all teams covet from the C position.

Its only 9 games so I dont think non WAS fans have realized how good Sarr looks this year. I am not a WAS fan but have watched him a few times. He is developing at a wild rate. I dont think there are more than 10-20 players I would trade Sarr for in this league given his age, size, mobility and skillset. Not saying he is going to be a #1 (Albeit that seriously isnt out of the question however small the chance), but he looks like a shoe in to be a JJJ or at a slightly lower end Myles Turner type - and likely better than both IMO.

So, ya, I wouldnt move Sarr for literally all the talent NO could offer (Tre + Queen + Fears). Those guys have archetypes much, much easier to find than what Sarr projects to be. George already looks to potentially be a better facilitating / rebounding Tre.

It’s great to see the young man growing into his game.
