Agbaji for Bitadze

The Raptors get a 3rs string C they can play for bigger match ups.

The Magic get a 50/40 shooting percentage 3+D wing that can play POA defense.

Carter / Wagner
Banchero / Silva
Wagner / Silva
Bane / Agbaji
Suggs / Black

They have no defensive weak links on their bench.

Poeltl / CMB / Bitadze
Barnes / Mamu
Ingram / Walter
RJ / Dick
IQ / Shead

Raptors get a third string C they can use while CMB adjusts to the differences of NBA size and physicality.

Fair deal?

Don't see the Magic doing this before Wagner is back and in shape after the ACL.

This is the most important point. Goga could very well be traded around the deadline if Wagner is back and playing well but until then the Magic really can’t move him unless they bring back a quality backup big either in the same trade or trade or another trade around the same time. Especially since the only real center left on the roster would be likely to miss games when you look at WCJ’s history.

Actually, ORL would have a defensive weak link on their bench...Center.

They seem pretty stacked there with WCJ and Mo Wagner? Bitadze is the third stringer?

Wagner is still out from ACL, Goga is their backup

You are right that this trade adds about $2M, while TOR only has $1M under the first Apron. But looking at spotrac, the allocations included in the 1st Apron calculation include holds for long-departed Will Barton and Jordan Nwora -- so they just need to renounce one or both of those guys to make the trade legal.

More to the point, TOR is $800K over the luxury tax line, and this trade would make them $2.8M over the luxury tax line. I don't think TOR would make this trade until they addressed that tax problem.

All that said, from a skills/value/role perspective, I do think Bitadze would be a reasonable fit as a backup C in Toronto, and I don't think the player values are too far off either (maybe TOR owes a SRP?). But Orlando should be concentrating on upgrading PG not a 3+D JAG like Agbaji, and Toronto will be focused on ducking the luxury tax, so I don't see the trade likely unless it is part of a far more complicated multi-team deal.

I've always liked Agbaji...but right now, it's a position of strength for ORL...primarily because Anthony Black is looking more like a bigger and better 3&D guy than Agbaji (rather than the oversized PG ORL hopes for). As others have said, Goga is pretty important, for now, with Moe out for a few more months...and Isaac basically as a non-contributor. Isaac should be/might still be the super-long, multi-position, defensive savant that can cover multiple spots off the bench...but he's honestly been a non-factor so far this season. Penda, the rookie, might also be a guy that can eat enough minutes in a small lineup to make Goga expendable. Goga is better than his role in ORL, but not really a starter-level guy yet, imo, check back when Moe returns.

*another factor is Moe's budget, expiring deal...hopefully, there's a handshake make-good that will keep him in ORL beyond this season. He's been a critical part of ORL's woeful bench offense and is definitely missed (and, if he weren't out rehabbing, underpaid).
