Wolves Bucks after Ware can aggregate

Post#1 » by winforlose » Fri Jul 17, 2026 7:30 pm

Wolves out: Rudy Gobert
Wolves in: Myles Turner, Kal’el Ware

Bucks out: Myles Turner, Kal’el Ware
Bucks in: Rudy Gobert

Why for the Wolves? Turns one big into two. Defense suffers but both players space the floor. Joan can defend the 4 with a shooting 5 and Ware or Turner can defend the four if rim protection is needed from Joan. Wolves get younger and add a core piece.

Why for the Bucks? The Bucks get the best player in the trade. They don’t own their own picks for years and with Rudy and Hero they can compete in the East. Rudy instantly turns the Bucks into a top 10 defense and they have a lot of shooting around him.

P.S feel free to add, players, teams, ect…

seems like a terrible idea for both teams. The win now team trading their 2nd best player for a mediocre C and prospect from a rebuilding team

I hate the direction for both teams honestly.

Ware isn’t a good enough prospect to get worse now for. Minn taking that big a step back just to get younger when they are a top 3-5 team in the league feels wrong.

And Milwaukee would be flipping Rudy for as many future picks as possible.

This was a non-starter based on these teams directions and their existing roster. Don't know what made you think of it.

Direction matter much more than value sometimes. The Bucks are playing for nothing for awhile, Rudy last years are a wasted there. Better to gamble on the youth and spin off Turner for whatever little he is worth.

Just spit balling a way to save OP…

To Pistons: Gobert

To Bucks: Duren/Green

To Wolves: Ware/Turner

Not even sure that works $ wise. But Wolves if trading Gobert they need a PF upgrade and a backfill C.

I'd also suggest letting this one die. And making deals bigger rarely is a save.

Wolves need 2 bigs to balance the roster and shooting bigs at that. Turner and Ware is exactly what the post Ball trade Wolves need. They turn into a run and gun team with Joan at the PF.

Bucks don’t control their own destiny, don’t love Turner and would like to stay relevant for the next few years to maybe attract another star. Not to mention young talent like Rollins and Green can shoot. The East is weak and Herro plus Rudy is a play in birth at least. It is true that going full rebuild is better for the Bucks but what does that accomplish without their picks?

Joan is the PF upgrade. He is young, fast, can defend in space. What he needs are two more bigs who can floor space for him, and switch with him. Ironically this is the trade that both teams are looking for. The Bucks don’t want to tank without their picks, and the Wolves want to get younger and gear up for Ant’s prime.

This is Ant's prime. The Wolves don't want to get worse just to get younger. I strongly disagree with that. That's a good way for Ant to not be there when the younger player still isn't remotely as good as current Gobert.

Joan isn’t a PF. He’s a C.

But yeah beyond that I don’t get this trade for either team.

nice idea. but I am thinking Bucks should not be interested. If Ware is a starting-level player then they need to keep him because he would be performing above his contract. They are already saddled with Dame and Trent on the books.

Bucks best case, if they don't think Ware is a guy, is to get Ware to show out for a few weeks and get a haul back. Knicks are already offering a swap and an unprotected pick.

Say you’re right and that window doesn’t start next year. What happens when Gobert is 35 and on a player option. What about the year after when he is 36 and likely on the decline. Selling high on Rudy and getting the young core ready to run with Ant in a pace and space team is the way to build what Ant wants. Without more bigs and a floor spacing big this season is doomed anyway.

Ant doesn’t like to play with pace.

You need to explain that statement. Wolves were 9th in NBA last season in pace, before acquiring an elite PG.

Dane Moore: The Wolves are clearly playing faster since acquiring Ayo Dosunmu. Asked Anthony Edwards about the impact Dosunmu has had on the pace the Wolves are playing with lately. "I'm not a fan of playing fast. But when I'm in with them, I don't have a choice because I want the ball, and they gone. The only way I can get the ball is to be next to them... They super fast with the rock."

lol one comment about playing fast with Ayo becomes your exhibit A and enough to claim you know what Edwards is thinking.

Doesn’t change Edwards plays on a team 9th in PACE about to hit top 5 in pace.

It literally Ant’s words. I don’t know what else you want.

He also plays slower than the team pace so through stats you can see he’s trying to slow things down.

Not saying he can’t play fast but he clearly doesn’t prefer it contrary to your assumption.

I would envision the Wolves are likely going to stagger Ant and Melo quite a bit this season to always have a creator on the floor. When playing together Ant is likely going to be force to pick up the pace, when Ball sits Ant will likely slow it down when he is in full control. Don't think it will much of an issue.

For better or worse Ware is viewed as the prize of the Giannis trade, I think there is a zero percent chance they would flip him for Gobert even with them not owning their pick this season, next season doesn't really matter for them. Rudy will get them 4-5 more wins, but that is likely the difference of 28 to 33 wins, pointless in the big picture which is what the Bucks should be focused on when they not giving out backroom deals to GTJ. Bucks got to let those Dame dead cap years tick away and start finding their new core, this Bucks team is likely 3-4 years away before they are ready to make a win now trade like this. If I had to make a list of teams that would likely give up assets for Rudy, the Bucks would be in the bottom 5.
