What Moves Should Phi Make Next?

Post#1 » by nzahir » Fri Jul 24, 2026 10:44 pm

So what’s next for Phi?

They need a backup C, even if Bona can play a role, they’ll need another guy

Also a backup 2/3

They have a swap in 27, 29, 30 and a 1st in 2033 and multiple 2nds

They also have their rookie to trade if needed, but I think they are high on him

The issue is they don’t have a lot of salaries to move, so players must be low cost

Not going to discuss Embiid deals for now, I think they want to see how he looks with the others first

Goga and Horford are some potential options that shouldn’t cost much, but would love a better option

I’d be on phone with Charlotte and Memphis.

They have rookie contract/minimum rotation worthy players that would fit well and should be available for minor assets..

Philon for Wells and SPJ feels pretty reasonable to me with whatever HW 2nd(s). Throw in a vet min from Philly and cash if you want.

Philon to CLT
Kalk+OMP+SPJ to Philly
Vet mins+stack of seconds to Mem

The 2029 LAC swap is top 4 protected, which hurts but I’d still think Mem/CLT would value it a bit as they should be expecting to be good in 3 years while LAC is looking pretty rough. Though 3 years is a plenty of shots at free agency away..

Build around that and leave Philon in Philly? Philly really could trust their core and offer the 2029 LAC first and their own 2030 swaps.. Mem might feel the 2030 swap offers some upside if you think Orlando is going to figure out how to build around their young guys.

Minor stuff, but think there should be a deal there.

There’s probably other useful bench types. But Memphis seems best option to me.

Small move for a backup big. Could be Nick Richards. Could be calling around for cheap limited upside energy guys in the Kalkbrenner mold. I don't think Charlotte is looking to move him. Just discussing archetypes.

Is that Al Horford? The one thing I can promise you is that guy will not be a Sixer. That did not go well on or off the court the first time around.

Really boring, but I think they find a team that could absorb Barlow, maybe give them SRP value, they can cut Terry at no cost, trade TPE and 2 SRP for Bronny and then sign one player at the vet min. Maybe someone like Agbaji who can be a defensive nuisance? Or they can just keep Terry?

Only thing they need to do is get below the 1st apron where they are hard capped. So if they cut 500k they are set...

Terry is non-guaranteed as you said, but they could also use Jabari Walker. He's only got 250k guaranteed.

Maybe I'm out to lunch on this one, but now that he has a contract I feel like it would be better for Bronny's career to stay in a place where he might get some court time. The Lakers could really use his PoA defense.

That's a reasonable value?

I don't disagree but this was the low hanging fruit. also i heard on a youtube that walker is klutch so he probably wont be cut.

They need a C/PF capable of playing minutes when Embiid or Lebron are out.

They could also use a backup PG.

Cheap targets:
Ware, Missi, any of Brk rookie 5, Lively Vuc, Dunn, Coward, Edey, KMurray, and Utah has five cheap guys that are ok. Etc.

Just depends on how much Philly pays.

Lively for Philon could be intriguing. Honestly not sure how to value each

There's just no way some of those guys are available. We're talking full on no chance Coward or Edey is a Sixer. Hell, I can't imagine Cedric Coward being traded period.

If they do add a big, I would expect it to be a guy who can protect the rim and run the floor. They look like they're going Pacers style run and gun. Vuc archetypes are the worst possible fit.

Backup big is what they need more than anything. I said this when they got Brown, let alone now. Embiid insurance is absolutely necessary. They have their 27 and 31 1sts? I can’t recall and too lazy to look it up lol

I wonder if they could get Clingan, Ware or Lively?

I think the Sixers have one FRP they can trade right now. Any Cs out there significantly better than Nick Richards (possible FA target) that could be had for Broome + 1 FRP + X SRPs?

Sixers really need a decent backup C to be a true contender.

They can make it happen with a deadline trade.

Davis played 20 games last season, while Embiid played 38. Embiid had superior stats too. How would this be a step in the right direction for the franchise?
