Golden State is not in the title hunt. Not this year and not in the remaining time Curry has available.
He is too old to carry the team for 82 games offensively by himself. Green is aging and never been an offensive force.
This proposal moves GSW toward the future.

SAS sends Fox, Johnson (expiring), 27 FRP and SAS 28 FRP
GSW sends Curry

GSW gets a younger PG to work with Lendeborg and Moody.
GSW can S&T Green if anyone wants him.
Trade off Butler for whatever his value is. The hope is to get picks or young players.

SAS gets a one year run with Curry. Curry is able to mentor Castle and Harper. If it works sign him to 1+ contracts. If it doesn’t, he expires and the new kids take over.

add in Harris, Kornet for Green. Also you have to add in actual value pieces like Bryant, more picks etc. I mean here you are trying to gift wrap a title.

ultimately, not a great deal for either side...
for Spurs - why sell assets when you are building well and have players in the right ages right now? trade fox and get out of that contract sure but it will be harder to replace the talent in a year or two.
Warriors - you are not getting Harper, you are not getting cap space, so what ARE you getting really?

I don't think it's debatable. I wouldn't eat the Fox contract for less than a solid future lotto pick. A pair of 28th-30th picks and Keldon isn't moving that needle

I’d love Steph on the Spurs at this point. That’d be his call. GSW would also get more draft capital that what you’re proposing OP. Closer to 4 unprotected 1st, especially taking in Fox, and 2 swaps at least.

The 2027 pick is Atlanta’s not SAS. And you can’t trade back to back firsts. 2029 is SAS or 2030 (best of Dal/Min/SAS).. think it’s 2027 and 2030..

think if Curry asks for a trade to SAS specifically, it probably looks close to that value, but with a third team.

I don’t like GSW taking back Fox’s deal if they’re really starting over. Probably better to try to flip Fox for a shorter overpaid contract. You want to avoid the bottom 3, but also want to keep salary flexibility for asset accumulation/free agency..

Given Lacob is trying to line up the Warriors to have cap space in a few seasons (whether he does anything positive with it is another story), I really don't see the Warriors taking on Fox.

Is that the rule now? I thought the rule was a trade involving FRPs can't occur if, after the trade, the team has no future FRP in two or more consecutive seasons. Nothing was ever specified that it had to be their own FRPs.

Same thing? I didn’t quote the Stepien rule, but most know it.. Phoenix doesn’t own their own first for the next 7 years.. But still own a first every other draft.

SAS doesn’t own their 2027 first, it’s chopped between OKC/SAC. They only own Atlanta’s.

So they can’t trade both the 2027 and 2028 firsts they own.
