DAL/POR/TOR - 2 Proposals

Post#1 » by daoneandonly » Wed Jul 29, 2026 11:38 am

A new variation of one that's been going around for quite a while now, 2 ideas with the same 3 teams

Proposal 1
Toronto gets: Shaedon Sharpe, Marcus Sasser
Blazers get: PJ Washington
Dallas gets: RJ Barrett

Proposal 2 (my preferred one of course)
Toronto gets: Shaedon Sharpe, Vic Krjeck
Blazers get: PJ Washington, Caleb Martin
Dallas gets RJ Barrett

For Toronto, they essentially exchange the expiring RJ Barrett for the locked in, younger Sharpe at the 2G position. Cant hurt at all that Sharpe himself also hails from Canada. Sharpe should fit in with the core, whether the Kawhi trade goes through or not. I think PJ is the best player in the deal, so I'd prefer the 2nd scenario where Dallas gets off of Caleb to do the downgrade, but a player who fills a bigger position of need. Portland gets a solid forward in exchange for their guard glut.

Sharpe is a worse player than RJ and we have a short window now with Kawhi so i dont think we would be interested in a straight swap

I don’t think Toronto does this. If the Leonard deal doesn’t go through, then I think they would.

I don’t like the normal Sharpe/PJ swap for Dallas but I understand it

Yea i dont like that straight swap either. Im actually leaning towards risacher being the starting 2G (provided he beats out Christie for it in a preseason competition), but I still think we need another guard and I think PJ deserves a chance to play for a non-Lakers playoff team. But that guard should be more of a PG

If RJ Barrett has told Toronto that he doesn't want to return I'd consider it

I don't really like these for Toronto. Its a downgrade in a win now year and while if one loves Sharpe, I see the benefit of having him locked up versus a free agent, I'd rather take my chances on bringing back RJ or maybe the best option of the three--reallocating that money somewhere else entirely.

If walter continues his hot shooting 2nd half then i would rather earmark that money for his extension. Sharpe is a bad fit in the starting line up.

I like the first proposal for the Blazers. I think the Caleb Martin contract kills the 2nd version for Portland.

Even though PJ is an awkward fit, i'd still remove Portland here and take Washington if im the Raps. Make him a swiss knife 6 man who will start a lot when Kawhi is injured

We would need RJ's offense more when kawhi is out though

True. But i think to win a title, we need to be healthy. And a healthy Raps dont have much need for RJ as better defense and 3pt shooting from that spot would work better. JKW would start

I wouldnt do the trade for PJ either, but just saying i'd take PJ over RJ. My preference is to use RJ and our pick this year for some kind of combo guard backup to IQ that can create, shoot and score. Offensive guards are pretty cheap these days

Not really a fan of the Caleb Martin/Heat Czech part. Vit is one of the only Blazers that can make a jump shot.

Totally indifferent regarding a Sharpe/Washington swap.
