SAS/GSW/HOU/DET Go Crazy

Post#1 » by louc1970 » Fri Jul 31, 2026 12:23 am

There are no real good moves for GSW to become a competitive team this year. So they need to jump start their rebuild.

Detroit needs a defensive enforcer. And a PF.

Houston needs to either go for it or understand they are poorly built - similar situation as GSW but have the pieces to compete.

San Antonio is still young and growing even with the great success they had this year.

The only thing this trade needs is placing the FRPs and the right amount.

SAS sends Fox, FRP
SAS receives FVV (expiring), Bassey (non-gtd), Robinson (non-gtd), Javon Green (expiring) and Jenkins (expiring)
SAS moves off Fox and lets the youth take over. Cuts the non-guaranteed contracts

Detroit sends Holland, Green, Robinson, Bassey, Jenkins, FRP
Detroit receives Draymond Green
Detroit gets the defensive enforcer who can also pass the ball. Homecoming. Really does not change their perimeter game much.

Houston sends Shepherd, Smith, FVV, FRP
Houston receives Curry
Houston all on with Durant, Curry, Eason, Sengun, Thompson.

GSW sends Curry, Green
GSW receives 3FRPs, Smith, Holland, Shepherd, Fox
GSW starts a rebuild with Smith, Holland, Lendeborg, Fox. Still have pieces to move - Porzingis and Butler.
Adding the 3 FRPs allow continued youth incoming.

Great try but as a Pistons fan…

Draymond has his moments but is close to done. He’s not taking Detroit to a Championship. If we can get him on a vets min someday, sure, but not giving up any assets for him.

Giving up a FRP, Holland, Jenkins, Robinson for someone that might retire next year? WTF? No thx

Fox is a non-starter for GSW. His 4-yr/$221M contract is awful.

Merits for the Pistons aside (and I don't think Dray fits here), the Warriors didn't re-sign Draymond to ship he and Curry out.

I am not trading all that for Curry.

Curry to Rockets isn't realistic due to how big his contract is and matching alone is a nightmare.

If he is interested in coming here, GS can buy him out and we can sign him cheap.

The Spurs aren't trading an all star and a first for a grab bag of useless filler

Love a 4 way trade where somehow nobody is happy, pretty funny.

A lot of them have disliked the Warriors/Steph for many years so I think it's just fun for them to suggest even if it has a 0% chance.

That is not really it at all.

Its a guy making 60m, which is incredibly hard to match salaries for, especially in the second apron era.

And therefore it would be better to not have the exciting, valuable player, but also to keep paying for him?

Trading young players & assets to build an old super team is always a great idea.

Ask:
The Nets (Kyrie, Durant, Harden)
The Clippers (Kawhi, PG, Harden)
The Suns (Booker, Durant, Beal)
Etc

Houston needs to be doing the opposite, if they do anything.
And taking on a $60 million contract is a huge mistake these days.

How can you have an "old super team" with three of your likely starters (Thompson, Şengün, Eason) aged 25 or less? Also, Curry's game is such that he is very likely to continue playing at a high level for several more years. I.e., this is not your typical "add an expensive guy who used to be famous (but soon will likely suck)" scenario. And by "young players," we're talking about Jabari Smith Jr. and Reed Sheppard, right? At 23 and 22 respectively, they're rapidly getting to the point where this is who they are: decent starters/good bench players on a playoff-bound team. That's nice to have, sure, but is it really too much to give up for a guy who averaged 26.6/3.6/4.7 (.637 TS%, .587 eFG%) just last season?

If I were the Rockets, I'd be all over this trade. GSW (and Detroit)...not so much.
RIP magnumt--you're literally why I'm still here on these boards.

Just getting to salary matching alone is already more value than I want to give up, for an expiring 39 year old.

As a Rockets fan, I’m glad that you’re not the Rockets.

I really wish this super team era would just die already.
Easily the worst era in NBA history.

I agree with the bold!

I posted because I was curious about your reasoning--e.g., maybe you feel that Smith and/or Sheppard are going to be all-stars soon? That would be a good reason to want to hold on to them even in a potential Curry trade. However, if they're just decent starters/good bench players on a playoff-bound team and you're getting Curry back (right after averaging 26.6/3.6/4.7 on.637 TS%, .587 eFG%)...again, not so much.

Personally I would rather not win a championship than win a championship with a manufactured super team.

Like I said. Worst era in NBA history.
