Mavs---Bucks---76ers
DAL TRADES: Washington, Gafford, Marshall, Thompson
DAL RECEIVES: Embiid, Philon, Hukporti, Walker, 2029 swap (PHI)
Mavs take on Embiid who can help Flagg grow by making life easier for him on the court by all the attention he draws and/or can be flipped for additional capital.....Philon and the swap are additional 1st round worthy "gets"
MIL TRADES: Turner
MIL RECEIVES: Barlow, Edwards, Thompson, Bona, 2027 2028 and 2029 seconds (PHI)
The Bucks get out of Turners deal for expirings and picks..as they rebuild after Giannis
PHI TRADES: Embiid, Philon, Bona, Walker, Edwards, Hukporti, Barlow, 2027 2028 and 2029 seconds, 2029 swap
PHI RECEIVES: Turner, Washington, Gafford, Marshall
The Sixers go all in around Lebron and Co..........

Re: Mavs---Bucks---76ers
Just out of curiosity, is there any reporting that the Mavericks are actually willing to absorb Embiid for essentially free, or is this just a wild horse that RealGM took off riding on?
PJ Washington alone is probably worth a swap or protected first. Gafford might be worth a protected first. Turner might fetch a protected first. I have Embiid as having considerably negative value.

PJ+Gafford = Philon/swap, give or take (PJ/Gaff probably worth more), so this is taking on 3 years of Embiid for nothing.

Really bad for Dallas. If they are taking on EMbiid and giving up valuable guys, deserve more picks

I am more open to Joel than most Dallas fans.
But I think Philly owes more here. Like add the 2030 swap? Jaylen/VJ/Maxey should still be really good - but Dallas’ pick is tied to Harper/Wemby so there’s value in it..
I don’t think Philly actually plans to move Joel though.
And I think if they did, GSW would be the most willing team. Most third teams would prefer Butler over Joel.
I don’t think Milwaukee trades Turner for 3 meh seconds though.

Me too. And there has been reporting on Dallas having at least considered the idea IRL.
I get he is hurt all the time. But what gets lost is he's still really good when he plays.

I can get behind an AD or Kawhi trade for a team as they can convince themselves they can squeeze a healthy year/healthy playoffs out of them. I dont know how a team deludes themselves when it comes to Embiid. 38/19/39 games last 3 years and when he plays, he physically looks broken. And while he's still really good, thats really only on offense. He's not capable of moving in space on defense or rebounding at a high level anymore.
The upside to trading for Embiid for any other team isnt on court, imo. Its the assets you get for taking him and the possibility that he has a medical retirement to save you a year or 2 on his contract. Maybe Philon/swap is enough in a vacuum (i disagree), but not when Dallas is sending out positive value as well. But Philly is also not in a place to dump Embiid, so tough to find a trade for him thats worth it from their end.

Pretty sure the medical retirement thing doesn't work if you trade for a player with a preexisting condition. You trade for him, you're paying off all or most of the contract.
This will end badly

Different management team in Dallas but this is like the Anthony Davis trade in reverse. I'm guessing Dallas would decline. Philly makes out like bandits here with 4 solid veterans that could start for many teams.

I’ll start by responding I’d prefer Butler over Joel. Even if it meant adding some role player to GSW. I think GSW would take on Joel the cheapest.
But Dallas doesn’t own their own picks through 2030. So why not get Flagg some play-in/playoff experience and see if it helps his development? 40 games of Joel should be enough for the play-in..
Trade expiring Joel and multiple assets for a piece that fits with whatever the roster looks like at that point if Flagg develops into a true number one. And if Flagg doesn’t, then nothing really mattered anyways.

Re: Mavs---Bucks---76ers
I'm just flat out not interested in trading Embiid right now. They've finally got a team with legitimate championship equity that isn't fully reliant on him. This is a floor raising, ceiling lowering move for the Sixers, and one that costs them assets.
I think an Embiid trade is off the table until they see what they have, and would be something you potentially explore in the off-season if it doesn't seem like it will work out. And then you're only dealing with trying to move a 2 year contract with more assets at your disposal to add to the pot for whoever the target may be.

38 games of Joel had Philly sneaking into the play in in a weak East. I dont think Dallas is considerably better with Embiid for 40 games and he destroys all flexibility for the next 3 years. The upside is limited while the downside is obvious (he continues to play <40 games every year and takes up more than a 1/3rd of the cap)

Nitpicking here since I agree that he makes zero sense on Dallas outside of if they can get a bunch of assets (which doesn't make sense for Philly)...
But sneaking into the play-in? They were the 7th seed, finishing 1 game behind the 5th seed, and 13 games above the 11th seed. No sneaking involved.

Wrong phrasing. I usually put every team that makes the play-in as "sneaking in", but ya, it doesnt make sense. Larger point is the same though. Philly has been play-in,missed playoffs, play-in in the East with Embiid at sub 40 games for the last 3 years. West is more competitive, so im not sure why Dallas would think they'd be able to do anything with Embiid either.

Bucks don’t have room to do a 1 for 4 deal and three SRPs don’t move the needle. Bucks would hold out for something better.

I didn't look too far in the value, but I didn't want Anthony Davis for table scraps (much less Luka) because he was made of glass and is cap/team building crippling. I dont want Embid for the same reason. So, whatever the other pieces are, I pass.
