CLE breaks up the Allen contract into 3 high impact players to add toughness and defensive grit to the squad, while moving Mobley into a more featured role alongside Mitchell. Gafford gives some of the Center bulk to help insulate Mobley's load at Center, while Washington and Herb slot in as tough defensive focused starters.

DAL moves off significant future money, clearing the way for future building around Cooper. Replace Gafford with young Missi for a fun young trio of Lively/Cisse/Missi to battle it out for minutes; Schroder adds point guard duties on a (mostly) expiring contract. Poole can be sat out if needed as a walking TPE or bought out, or given some bench scoring minutes.

NOP gets a prime Center target in Allen to compliment Zion and Queen with his true Center skillset, elevating the roster to give a real attempt at playoff contention as ownership and front office are aiming for. They pay for it in giving up Herb and taking on extra future salary in Martin and Merrill, with the latter filling a shooting need.

I’d understand the Missi/Gafford swap for Dallas. Worse player imo but younger, etc… But PJ for Poole?

That's basically the Pelicans position on Missi and Jones. It's difficult to execute trades where multiple teams believe multiple players are each worth a first on their own, but the market doesn't agree. The other problem is that Poole is negative value even on expiring contract.

The Pelicans have an urgency to upgrade their roster after the disaster that was last summer and that F.O. may have internal limitations on them in terms of trading future assets. Needing to upgrade without really having the assets to do so sucks, especially when dealing with potential trade partners who don't feel the same urgency.

I'm sure the Mavs are comfortable waiting for now. The Cavs trading either Allen or Mobley without also dealing Harden (which won't happen until next summer at the earliest), would be a disaster defensively.

Picks and or swaps are owed to Cleveland via Pelicans. Pelicans should just be cut out and the trade should be like Allen, Schroeder, and Porter for Washington, Gafford, and Marshall

I think the difference in how different teams value their own players is certainly a huge factor here but the biggest problem for me is not seeing the fit of Allen next to Zion or Queen.
