Mavs PDX Different Balancing Act

Post#1 » by daoneandonly » Mon Aug 3, 2026 1:35 am

We've seen many proposals between these 2 due to them having opposite roster balancing issues, but how about this bust for bust

Zacharie Rishacher for Scoot Henderson

Both have been incredibly disappointing given where they were drafted but could still progress in the right system. PDX needs more forwards, Dallas needs playmaking guards. Scoot is up for a new deal, so PDX gets an extra year to test waters

Scoot has shown a lot more than Risacher.

Mavs would need to add value that they shouldn’t add for scoot imo

Dallas owes value but I'd never pay it.

How about Jrue for Rishacher + Washington

Scoot was a disappointing rookie but the past 2 seasons he's been a borderline starter level player.

He hasn't exactly broken out yet though, he could though in this contract year.

I love the idea of Scoot to Dallas but I would want them to keep Zacc. Christie, 2029 LAL 1st, and 3 or 4 2nds?

Scoot - Risacher - Flagg - Washington - Lively

That feels like the start to something.

Washington out instead?

I understand Scoot is worth more than PJ or Zac. But I don’t think he’s worth that.

I honestly don't watch much PDX basketball given the time zone difference, so I still thought Scoot was meh and bustable.

Mods, you can lock this then, since ignorance clouded my judgment

Scoot + Sharpe + Yang for PJ + Christie + LAL FRP

DAL swings on 2 former lotto picks.
PDX balances the roster and gets more 'win now' types.

DAL
G - Irving / Scoot / Sasser
G - Sharpe / Thompson / Larrea
F - Flagg / Risacher / Tarik / Martin
F - Aldama / Johnson / Marshall
C - Lively / Gafford / Yang

PDX
G - Morant / Dame / Holiday
G - Dame / Christie / Vit
F - Camara / Holiday / Cissoko
F - Deni / Washington / Potter
C - Clingan / RW3 / Carlson

Yes mods, please lock as it was my misread on Scoot. But nothing Portland would realistically offer Dallas is worth a FRP as some of these counters are suggesting

Might be alone, but I’d think Dallas prefers to trade the 2030 first over the 2029 LAL first..

2030 means after next season, Dallas can trade 28+32(+34) in an effort to build around whatever roster they have, if Flagg takes a nice step this season. 2029 means Dallas could only trade 2031+2033.. Or even just 2028 first for a role player / overpaid shooting guard etc..

And I don’t think Dallas owes a truly unprotected pick in a PJ/Scoot swap.. Worse of Flagg/Wemby+Harper.. Not even sure that is owed honestly - but least it’s upside capped.

It’s extending the pick debt, but doing it in a smarter way imo..

FWIW - I didnt post it but the pick in my deal would be LP. PDX isnt getting a high variance pick for Scoot / Sharpe.

I assume Dallas wants to see what their coaches can do with Zacc before they spend assets trying to flip him for a different reclamation project whose playing time would be stunted by backing up Kyrie and Cooper.

DAL definitely need to keep that LAL future first, unless it is for a true difference maker.
